I started the truck, put it in reverse and the screen went black. I put it back in park and it stayed black.
I put it in reverse and the camera came on, I backed into the garage, put it in park, and the camera image went out as normal and when the radio returned it was doing this and kept doing this until I shut off the truck and opened the door to get out.

Check all the connections on the camera. Could just be a loose wire in there causing some confusion. When computer stuff gets confused it’s a bad day. I’ve had similiar happen on a Ford Transit. Luckily it was under warranty so I just let them replace the whole shebang. Saved me the trouble of trouble shooting but they did say it was just a loose connection. Replaced the camera anyway because warranty was paying for it.

I just got done putting on all of the tail gate weatherstrip - hate the thought of ripping all of that off again and doing it over!
Dealer will just say "it's working fine now, nothing to fix.
So maybe will see how it goes next time I drive it (won't be for several days) and see how it goes, and wait until it really breaks.
They and Jeep are probably pissed at me now anyway........... LOL

Loose connection or the typical software mess-ups. System might have to restart a few times. This is the stuff that annoys me when it doesn't work.

2nd on software being the root cause of the problem.

You should see it after I get an update over the air - if it's on the home screen, for days it will show TomTom loading maps.............. then suddenly it's ok again

Mine did the same thing today. There is a new Nav update and my guess is I interrupted the software update and all hell broke loose. I turned the volume knob up and it went back to normal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

😂 Not on the Jeep, but in the GMC Canyon….. I wish I could find the video of it. It was in a similar random ‘loop’.

Another time……I had two different songs playing at the same time. Only happened once in the 8 years I had it.

The GMC Canyon would shut off (screen would go black) from time to time. From what I understand, it’s just a ‘reboot’ of the system.

Every once in a while, the JT will do something odd…… Here’s some glitchy music for ya. Usually….. rebooting the phone and stop/restart the JT helps.
So weird…..

I had the same thing happen a few months ago. The manual or the internet (I forget which) explains how to do a soft reset on the audio/nav system. If that doesn't work follow a hard reset.

2 things:

Do you have a Tazer installed?
- If yes, this happens to my 2021 with the 7". Actually I had massive issues with the canbus/software until the canbus system finally just took the marrying and hasn't given me issues again, yet. (Sometimes the hotkey for the camera pauses the music when returning to the radio display, but whatever).

Do you actually USE the cellular/XM connection?
- If you aren't utilizing the XM connection, unplug it. Same with the cellular connection. Your canbus system does NOT need it to function.
* Unplugging these (mostly cellular, but the xm can be used as a low bandwidth backup) will neuter the OTA connection and thus keep your jeep reliable and consistent. If you REALLY need an update to your truck, have the dealer update it manually (it's not a 4xe, so you shouldn't ever NEED one). Does it take longer, compared to OTA, sure. Does it ensure you won't have a 4xe situation or at least less of these stupid issues, oh yeah!

No really, OTA updates are never NECESSARY. I don't even keep my SGW plugged in, it's only there for the OTA backdoor issues that FCA has never fixed. This started over a decade ago with THIS 2015 Cherokee. You can prevent this from happening by unplugging the cellular and xm antennas on the back of the radio.

*SIDE NOTE: Maybe it's just mine, but the XM sounds worse than AM radio. Even my grandparents 2017 base colorado and 2006 trailblazer (granted bose) sounded 10x better. So there was zero reason for me to leave it connected, as I plan to use the 8" screen down the road and don't need these issues.

For what it's worth, mine did the exact same thing yesterday too. The tazer was unmarried and un-installed at that point, and I had just programmed the auto high beams with AlfaOBD. I thought I might have messed that up, but after doing a few tazer style sleep cycles it was back to normal. Now with several others reporting the same thing at the same time on '24+ Jeeps, I'm thinking it must have been an OTA update.

Yeah, that's a good thought. Normally I just get 3 days of the home screen messed up, but it makes sense.
I'll check it again today, although I have no reason to drive it
