I never felt the need for a full snorkel and I’m not a fan of the aesthetic but I want my Jeep to breath more fresh air. Next I’ll be replacing the charge tubes but $600 seems a bit steep for aluminum tubing and silicone fittings readily available, especially after looking inside of the factory charge pipe with crazy baffles shown below.

You should hear this thing now!

Well that's, interesting... Definitely not something I would have done. I'm going to guess rain/water wasn't taken into account?

It doesn't look much more exposed to rain than the Mopar cold air intake for the 3.6L, and probably a whole lot less expensive. Let us know if you see any measurable performance changes.

The Mopar one comes with a cover you're supposed to use when it's wet out.

I run the AEV snorkel, AFE Rapid Induction intake, and AFE intercooler pipes on my 3.0. Sy-Klone prefilter on the snorkel is nice. 20k miles and cone filter was still clean.

The sounds are nice. The intercooler pipes realistically added nothing performance wise and a negligible amount of sound but the room to snake piping down in there makes them worth their price, I think. It'll be a nightmare to get cut straight pipes and silicone to work unless you tig up your own solid pipes with some pie cuts. They do come out much easier than the factory pipes as well, which I've had to do a few times for other projects.

Anybody make an intake tubing that retain the factory air box? Just to eliminate the baffle section.

The baffle appear made out of steel and spot welded in there. The gen2 is plastic and easily removable.

I think you’re referring to the intake piping, pre turbo, not the charge pipe, post turbo. I’ve already installed an AFE cai with the gold filter. Works and looks great

You can take the intake off and pop the plastic baffle out of it, this is the charge air piping after the turbo

Where did you get the screen you put on the hood?

So did you notice any changes? I just bought my first JT and it's amazing that the engine bay is so restricted to letting air pass through. Looking at the intake and how close it is to the hood, where does the air come from in that tight spot?
I am in AZ and we have very little rain. What you did would be perfect for my engine provided it actually has an advantage?
