My 2 cents it took me 6 months to decide between a Rubicon and a Mohave. It all came down to this , I’d rather have the lockers and not need them than to need them and not have them. Both are very capable machines

I had a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland and put 20k on it. I now have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator High Altitude. I love the look of the HA and the features but the Overland with the 18's is a much better choice for highway driving.
True, does the extra meat on the wheels smooth out the ride a bit on the overland compared to the HA? I currently have the stock wheels on it and when I need to trade out I’m thinking about going to 33” for that reason. Probably a light A/T of some sort that’s more HWY oriented but still gives a bit more aggressive look. I have had 35” and currently run 36” on a J/K but it has a 4” lift and really isn’t for HWY driving so it isn’t a good comparison….

Thanks!

FYI, I’ll be keeping the HA wheels, just getting slightly taller tires. Thanks again!

Compared to the Overland the HA doesn't smooth out the bumps as well. I think its the extra weight of the tires. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy with the HA for highway driving but it doesn't take the bumps as well.

Good to know, I put inch and a half spacers on my HA. I’ve read comments where people didn’t feel great about gladiators on the HWY, with the spacers I feel really stable at HWY speeds but will be interested to see how a little thicker rubber changes the feel. That said, nobody buys a gladiator just for the quality of the ride! You’re buying a gladiator because it’s a gladiator.

Thanks again.

You want a Rubicon? Get a Rubicon. You want an Overland? Get an Overland. Regardless of which one you get, you’ll have a dozen people lined up to tell you why you’re wrong and would have been better off with a different trim/package.

Just think about why you want one or the other. As someone joked about earlier in the thread, you will have people ask about why you went with one or the other.

Not saying that should drive your decision, but that you should convince yourself why you “need” one or the other before you make the purchase, as it’ll help with those discussions later, lol.

It's the shorter sidewalls on the tires.

Buy once cry once. Rubicon will always be the benchmark and that is not debatable…yet is constantly debated.

If you buy a Jeep Gladiator or Wrangler that is not a Rubicon, you will have to hone your rationale to justify reasoning to everyone in the world. And inside you slowly die recognizing that the Rubicon features, while likely not often used, were worth it. And resale is proven.

It’s like High point vs Glock both super reliable…but come on who the fuck wants to justify a high point? Couple hundred more and you have something respectable, badass, and guaranteed that someone else wants ?
ooo but what about a kimber????? Now that is saweet:)

Gosh darn it, now I am going to have to go out and get a Rubi also and explain to the wife why we have two gladiators!!!!! LMAO …actually that sounds like a good idea :giggle:

so with taller tires you think it would improve?
The HA models have a "sport tuned suspension". I'm not sure exactly what that means, but probably slightly stiffer coils and shocks.

The stock HA 275/55/20 tires have enough sidewall to ride comfortable. Its a 31.9" tire on a 20" wheel, so 11.9" of total sidewall. Comparable to a stock TJ or XJ with 27" tires on 15" wheels.

Not everyone wants a POS Glock! :) I'll take a Springfield or a SIG over a Glock any day.

I got large trade in for my Overland and it sold within 2 days of me trading it in. So dont be fooled by the Rubicon is the hells bells. I upgraded on end of lease to the Rubi because I was doing alot of offroading with it. The payments were the same whether I rolled over the Overland or purchased a Rubi.

I realize this is my fault ?‍♂ but hey I likes me guns as much as my Jeeps. If you like your Hellcat Pro you will really appreciate the MAKO R7 with a red dot…very similar and both are great shooters. Hellcat with an SMSc is my daily carry…and is only comfortable in a Rubicon ?
