Mopar charges $85. For a quart of 75w-85w GL-5. You can get GL-5 75-90w for $17 At walmart.

Im not concerned about the oil burning, the engine doesnt care except its not all that good for the emissions side (gummy ass oil coating) but I do have concern with the CAC being clogged up with residual oil
Every diesel ive owned has had oil in the intercooler. You can clean it easily by removing it and running diesel through it or letting it soak in diesel. They have never "clogged" even my fathers 7.3l or my 6.0L which both had over 300k miles on them had any issues with clogging.

Yep, my 7.3 with 286K on it used to have it until I put a catch can on it, my 6.4 with 202K the same thing, put a can on it. I guess I will have to do the same with this little baby diesel. I ran napha through the 6.4 and I guess it cleaned it, did it until reasonably clear, the taped up/sealed an airline to one end and blew through it for a few mins....

He said it was a warranty thing - I'd say, let 'em.

I don't believe a "major oil leak" would result in that much of a drop. A cup of oil will spread all over your engine - or floor, like nobody's business. If it leaked a quart there'd be oil all over creation if it was external - that would be enough to more than cover the whole underside and drip to the floor.
I browse this forum a lot more than I post. You have got to be one of the most involved members on any forum I've ever seen. The forum model is a dying one but you are a nice reminder to me why I used to like them so much.

Does anyone know of a catch can set up for our diesels? I've been thinking of it lately.
I have been reading up on them, but seems like they all cause a CEL probably due to a change in vacuum pressure. The Mann Provent appears to be the go to for other ecodiesels. Haven't seen any write ups on Rams, JLs or JTs that dont throw the light. Would be nice if there was one to keep excess oil out of the system.

Everything I've seen has been on the 2gens. And they throw CELS.

I get a crankcase vent code with my KN filter if I dont use the tube that extends into the turbo inlet. I would love to find a way to turn that off and get the tube out of the airflow/inlet elbow.

It partially restricts engine airflow because without it the larger inlet tube doesnt "suck" enough on the PCV system and throws a code. My KN intake has a tube that puts the suction right at the impeller/inlet.

Point is....any changes in the pcv system will throw a code on this thing. Not sure why but its likely an epa requirement.
