So, I am late to the party putting on the soft top on my wife's wrangler. My set up sucks, and it was 93 with high humidity. I get the hard top off and hoisted up into the ceiling. I put the frame on the jeep and then attach the soft top. I slide the top up, flip the top forward and here is what I find:

Jeep Gladiator Hole in Soft Top. How to repair? Hole

The mice left me a nice gift. I had this top hung on the wall inside the vinyl bag it came in and the little critters crawled up in there and had fun.

I searched the forum and could not find anything. (Full disclosure, this is probably due to user error.)

Does anyone have any suggestions to repair the top. It is the Twill Top. Currently I have Black Gorilla Tape on the hole, with the tape on the inside and outside so the sticky side of the tape is adhering to each other. It rained here pretty good and the gorilla tape kept the inside of the Jeep dry as a bone. Chalk up one more win for Duct Tape (Gorilla Tape).

Thanks in advance. Oh, and to answer your question why am I posting my wrangler soft top issue on the gladiator forum. No offense to the people on the wrangler side of things, but I have received better information on the gladiator side of things. So, when I have a problem that is common between the two, I always address my questions to this side of the forum.

There isn’t going to be a great solution other than a patch or maybe using some tent repair stuff or both…. Is it on a part that creases much when it’s folded?

Yes and no. When I fold it back it can fold, but if I make sure it can lay flat.

Well that helps with repairs. I’m far from an expert. I’d have someone who works on convertible tops take a look at it.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I cannot be the only Jeep owner that has a hole in their soft top. I thought there would be a repair kit out there.

Contact @AllMoparParts.com and see if they know if a repair kit is available.

You could also try contacting the aftermarket soft top manufacturers.

Take it to an Upholstery shop that deals with convertible tops someone should be able to patch it up!

I did upholstery work for years, someone should be able to patch it,

Try a marine canvas place, I would think if you are near the coast it would be easier to find one.

Google it - Looks like lots of products and videos available for repair. But the if the tape works and it’s on top I may no fret about it.

There is a boat canvas top product called Tear-Aid. It is a fabric based adhesive “tape” that is used to repair boat canvas. There are two types, one for rubberizEd fabric, the other for straight fabric. I used this to squeeze another season out of boat canvas that had started to disintegrate. Color may be an issue, so you may need to get creative with a sharpie. There is also a generic product called sail tape that as the name implies is for sail repairs. Both of these have fabric specific adhesives, so you may need to play around and experiment.

I’ve seen this happen to rolled up inflatable dinghies. In the future you might want to throw a couple moth balls in the bag for storage, besides moths it is good for little furry critters like barn mice.

Ouch, well that sucks. Use spearmint oil around your top/garage to keep the critters away or put out a bucket trap and just send them to their maker.

When my CJ7 top would get a hole in it I would patch it with a tire patch like you would use on an inner tube. My top was usually on its way out though and I was just trying to make it last till the summer months
