I'm not sure how many threads and videos I've seen on dead batteries and aux delete/bypass....so here's another! A brief history: bought a '20 Launch Edition a year ago and haven't had any issue. It had several upgrades to it already (bed rack, Decked bed drawers, winch, etc.) so seeing the Auto Start/Stop warning light on the display made me think the previous owner had figured out some workaround.
I've had to jump my Launch Edition a few times in the past week; after just connecting the cables, the Jeep starts and runs fine. I bought a new main and new auxiliary battery and wanted to try the simple aux bypass by removing the fuse and isolating the auxiliary negative cable at the main posts. Dropped in the new main battery, pulled the fuse, taped the negative and everything is great now - even the (A)! warning light disappeared!
After driving it for a few miles to allow it to trigger any codes if I missed something, my Auto Start/Stop killed the engine at an intersection and picked back up when letting off the brakes. I thought the aux battery was solely responsible for handling the Auto Start/Stop - am I mistaken or did I overlook something?
