Hike-It and other throttle controllers also offer a theft protection mode that disables the throttle…push on the accelerator and nothing happens Until you reactivate the throttle through a code.
Or unplug the throttle controller in about 20 seconds........

Sounds like you could/should install a Bolt lock, just to 'take the hint' from the wife, as it were ;)

Sure, it won't stop someone with a cutoff tool, but if it gives her additional peace of mind...happy wife and all that ;)

More concerned about mine since it's what gets taken on trips and out of state - but then hers would be an easy battery theft even in a Walmart parking lot where someone would think the driver was just putting in a new Walmart battery.
I won't cut grills, though, and her Rubicon has the front camera (that I really wish MINE had since I have a front receiver and snow plow to hook up to)
So unless they come up with a lock that doesn't require cutting a grill, I'll find other ways.

Yes…not that hard to remove, and it seems like the Tazer doesn’t help if removed either. I guess a deterrent at best. Relay bypass seems like the best option so far…

Layers, obstacles, at least there's things to slow them down. f

Here's what you do... Put a claymore (remember, "front toward enemy") behind your glove box with a trip line. When glove box is removed, whammo. Perp won't get away and you'll get a new Jeep. Unless you're in CA, you'll serve 10 years max, and will have a collectible, new vehicle to drive.

So endeth the lesson.

I'd be interested IF it looked exactly like the stock relay, including cloned numbers.
Otherwise, if I had a scanner attached and saw an error and pulled the top of the PDC/fuse panel off and saw an obvious change along with the correct codes, pretty simple fix.
Seems to me anyone who gets far enough into it to the point of actually starting it is quite well equipped to get past simple things. Heck, I bypassed the fuel pump relay on my 4.0 with a short jumper, and have done the same with vehicles I could not get to crank as a troubleshooting method.
So the more it looks real, the better.
Just a thought - to make it harder, such a relay with hood locks......... then they can't just pop the hood, jump the relay and move on.
Not poo-pooing it, just trying to think through - if I was at the point of stealing a Jeep and got so far as to being ready and able to crank it, and it failed to crank - I'd likely be equipped to deal with relay and fuse issues.
Hood locks would slow me down a lot and I might just move on.
So I'd likely couple such a relay with a hood lock.

(my wife asked me last week how easy it was to get into the engine and battery and such - "does my hood lock"? (she's NOT a Jeep person or even a car person, couldn't tell oil from antifreeze) - I told her - 10 seconds and your hood opens, no locks at all, two latches you flip, release the safety and the hood floats right up)
That’s why mine, when I do it in the next couple of days, would require bypassing the measures under the hood. My hood is already locked.

So much great anti-theft advice here!
But don't forget to purchase a sturdy and strong ground anchor system for your Jeep, because the really good pros are using heavy duty helicopters to snatch them up these days too!

Seriously - If they want it they're gonna get it

That’s just mean.

My wife really did comment about a low flying chopper last week - where we are, I can't see much reason for one to be flying over us.............

I just ordered the 41.22 starter relay bypass based on a prior theft thread. Best option I’ve seen to prevent this
Thanks for posting. I had never heard of 41.22. It looks promising, especially considering the price. I will have to do more research. Please let me know your thoughts once you receive it. Please keep some mental notes, and share your thoughts when you do the installation.
Thanks again

Buy one of the boots that locks onto the wheel. That will stop most attempts. Of course, you'll have to budget extra time every day for install and removal.
Wait.... I had to re-read... at first I thought you were talking about the parking enforcement boots... but I realized you were talking about the "club"... ?

Tazer offers a theft protection option to enter a code through the buttons on the steering wheel. I wonder if this can be bypassed as well through the CAN? Hike-It and other throttle controllers also offer a theft protection mode that disables the throttle…push on the accelerator and nothing happens Until you reactivate the throttle through a code. I have a starter bypass similar to the 41.22 in my TJ. It uses a reed switch instead of a toggle switch. The reed switch can be hidden in plane sight and requires a magnet to turn on…much more stealth than the toggle switch. I made the suggestion to 41.22 to make that an option. Don’t know if they considered it or not?
By reed switch, is this what you got ?

Did yours come with a key ?

In this listing, I was guessing the non-wired piece is the magnetic "key" ? But looking at it, I'm not sure.

Or do you need this :

So to get this to work, wire this either inconjunction with/or instead of the toggle switch that comes with the 41.22 kit and attach the non-wired magnet "key" before each start ?

Thanks for the help

I installed this capacitive switch. It works up to 3/16" thick panel. No hole to drill and can be placeI anywhere behind non metallic panel. I killed the starter circuit way up stream by the firewall. But, it can be setup to kills any components, starter relay, bcm etc...

Can you elaborate on this switch? Is it RF controlled on the other side of where it’s hidden, behind the dash for example?
