Hello,

It's time to go over to the dark side and trying to determine what trim to get. Lockers are a must , as these have saved me in many situations. So it's go with one of the base models and add lockers or get the Mojave with lockers already. My main question is how have the electronics handle the rain? I live in the Houston/Galveston area and its going to be caught in the rain more than once because the door are never going to be on this rig. Can the interior hold to the rain 4-5 times a year.

How do interior electronics hold up due to getting wet from to rain; dash touchscreen display, steering wheel controls, radio, speakers, power window and locks?

What type of interior has hold up best for you when getting wet? The cloth seat or the leather trim?

Thank you

I have cloth. Sport S. I have survived a few hail storms and rain storms "sans top and doors."
Pull drain plugs and use a wet dry vac the day after. I also leave the rubber mats out. After a year and a few months. My rear view mirror appears to be delaminated a bit. Going to see about a warranty replacement. The silver trim on the horn ring is falling off. Seats are more grey over black. Electronics work great.

The electronics on all trims are sealed against the elements. Mojave comes with rear locker only. Rubicon comes with both Front and rear. I never intentionally get my interior wet. But I've been out in the rain a couple times. No Ill effects other than it takes forever to dry unless it's hot and low humidity. (Houston checks one of those marks). I have cloth. Mine is a hard top, so once the rain comes from nowhere, I'm stuck. Power windows/locks/radio/ everything unaffected. Seat stays wet for a couple of days.

I think there is some level of water resistance to the electronics. Ive had my internals get wet in rain storms before (in my JL. same dash). They seem to be fine. Keep in mind I live in the high desert and we don't get TX level rain.

Yeah, my sport s with basic 5” radio has accidentally been subjected to several surprise showers. I wipe it down with a beach towel and don’t worry about it too much. Nothing has shown any damage yet.

Here's some answers to that question. https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/cabin-water-resistant.26588/
I have cloth and the seats dry quickly. The center console will get damp too.

They are rated to withstand a rain for xx hours.
30" submerged, above that they are rated for rain.

You should ask this guy:
This pained me to watch the other day. Some how cutting the shifter boot got it to go into neutral too? :crying:

Judging from the water marks though, water was way over the hood on this one and fried everything.

Thank you guys, I did read that article but wanted to get some actual owner experience and how they have hold up. Seems to be pretty well for most part. I guess it doesn't matter which trim since electronic weatherproofing is going to be the same in all trims?

So now it just figuring out which trim to get that has the diesel engine avaliable to build out. or get the Rubicon or Mojave

There is a panel in front of the shifter that covers the emergency neutral disconnect. The knife was to get under the panel edge, underwater, not to cut the shifter boot.

I had a mental image of an insurance adjuster walking away slapping his thigh bent over laughing. Ouch!
