Hopefully forever. The plan is to retire, sell the house, upgrade the motorhome to a DP, and terrorize family and friends all over the USA. We will see how it goes. I still have at least 5 years.

With the way things are going with vehicles, probably until I'm convinced an electric version is solid. My daughter will be 16 when the all new vehicles sold must be electric mandate goes into effect. She will be able to chose if my wife's JLU or my JT gets upgraded first lol.

This is my first Jeep and I do love it, so the only way I see myself dumping it right now would be if I had to open up garage space, or upgrade to a more powerful version or a truck for serious towing. That's assuming I don't bankrupt myself upgrading this one.

There is no such animal as a minimum
loss when selling a vehicle one buys
new
Let me know the secret as X Mas gift
Be safe
Minimal loss probably referring to Wrangler/Gladiator holding a higher resale value than most vehicles. So the loss is minimal compared to other vehicles. I've seen local dealers listing used Gladiators with less options than mine for more than what I paid for mine, so resale is apparently pretty good at the moment.

Honestly, not long lol. I will most likely go back to a Ram soon. This is my first Jeep and I have tried to love it. It does have awesome features like removable top and such but I’m just so used to a full size. I keep finding myself look at the ‘21 rams and wondering if I could make the switch back without breaking the bank ?

Those Rams are nice, for me it was a toss up between a Rebel and a Gladiator. Gladiator won out because I don't really need a "work truck", just something to haul an occasional load to the dump or to local home improvement store. If at any time I end up needing a heavier duty, I hope it's after the Gladiator is paid off and I can just add a Ram to the garage lol.

We tend to keep cars about 7 to 9 years. I also drive a company car and that one gets remplaced more frequently. Lately, they are Lincoln’s.

For the JT it’s hard to say. Could be 2 could be 10.

Like homes, etc
List and selling ??
I know I or any knowledgeable would not pay asking price
You might not pay asking price, but we have homes in the area going for 1 to 100k over asking price due to people moving out of the city. The cost will be whatever people are willing to pay, but when a used vehicle list is 6 grand more than what mine listed new then trade in loss would be minimal for me.

I'm in California, we just had a thing about all new vehicles being fully electric by 2035. Similar to what some countries have announced. At the rate FCA appears to be pushing hybrid/full electric, that should give a few years in production before I'm looking.

Well that’s in 15 more years. Most of us will be dead from COVID by then....at least that’s what CNN seems to think.

I have no objections to an electric vehicle.
What needs to happen to make them attractive to me is substantial improvements in overall battery life before replacement; battery life between charges; 10 minute battery re-charges; and in the case of a 4 wheel drive vehicle in particular, like the Jeep, the battery life off-road where the torque requirements at the wheels are substantial and short battery range will be exposed. As well, batteries as we know them do not like to be shocked with vibration and getting bounced around a lot. So until the technology changes I don’t see near future viability for battery powered off-roading.
But when these obstacles are overcome - look-out electric world!

Now, as far as Cali is concerned, have they announced major power generation/supply increases to accommodate the increased electric grid demand for all the electric vehicles?
Didn’t think so. Cali is in brown-outs in the summer already, so there goes that idea.
2035 is a pipe dream for Cali unless this is resolved, and it will be extended for sure.
