I am contemplating buying a leftover 2023 Rubicon Ecodiesel but with all the pump failures I am hesitant. I did find a company that makes a pump for the ram and states it will work for 2014-2022 ecodiesels. I emailed them to see if it is comparable for gladiators and waiting to hear. The pictures make it look compatable. If it does fit, I think I will pull the trigger on it. Here is their description post your thoughts:

2014-2024 RAM 1500 3.0L ECODIESEL CPX FUEL PUMP

The CP4 pump Bosch should have built, the CPX.
• Pinned lifter buckets to prevent rotation and stop failures. Even during a gel.
• New feed port, preventing any contaminated crankcase debris from entering the plungers and barrels. (Built in disaster prevention kit)
• Direct drop-in replacement, no aftermarket fuel lines or components needed.
• No additional labor or modifications to install.
• 24 Month no questions asked replacement warranty.

And just to point out, the whole ā€œUS diesel fuel doesn’t have enough lubricity for the CP4.ā€ That’s a lie. I have disassembled, measured and under microscope, inspected pumps with over 500k miles with essentially zero wear.

The flaw was nothing to stop the roller lifter from rotating in a vacuum event. (Gel, filter change, low pressure feed issue.) This is why the LML Duramax pumps drop like flies. There is no lift pump to keep positive pressure on the plungers and barrels.
This allows a slop, or gap between the cam and the lifter roller. Which allows it to turn. Similar to a roller cam in a engine. When there is no lifter guide or link bar. The lifter rotates, destroying the cam and lifters and filling the engine with hardened metal filings. These filings, are what fills your fuel rails and injectors with debris, ruining them.
All 2011 - 2024 RCD CPX CP4 pumps are modified internally in a 5 AXIS CNC to return fuel to the tank. This prevents debris from entering the injector in the instance of a failure. "DISASTER KITS" ARE NOT NEEDED!

Having the recall work done on my 21 JTRD tomorrow, not sure what was fixed in the revised version of the pump? I believe 23s and newer have the revised version from the factory depending on the build date.

If the pump is built for the 3rd-generation eco diesels I would think it would work on the Gladiator.. not sure honestly. I know no one who has had a pump failure in real life currently, only seen the doom stories on forums which tend to be a highly concentrated area of people complaining/reporting issues.

Where you get the information on the pump failures? I have tons of friends and customers with the eco diesel and have not seen 1 failure? Over 30 for sure zero failures?

I just got my hpfp done on my 2021 JTRD. It didn’t fail, was just replaced under the recall. It’s running great , but still getting a weird smell at start up. Almost like burning def or diesel. Also the weird buzzing noise after shutting the truck down went away significantly.

A CP3 retrofit would be even better. I think there is one for the eco diesel in the RAM.

There is one for the Cumnins. But not for the Eco yet.

I have heard of some but people make it sound like there afraid to drive one. I've heard of way more failures with the 2.0 and the 3.6.

Just on this forum alone Free2roam’swent out around 4,000 miles and Adventure_JTRD has had two failures. That’s off the top of my head. I also dabble in the ram forums and the 1500 eco is having the same thing over there.

There is a thread with a poll showing how many have/haven't failed.

My pump gernaded itself back in Dec 2022. They replaced the fuel pump, fuel rails, lines and injectors. This was before the recall was right around when the recall was announced and only a certain number of vins were included. My vin wasn't included at the time of failure.

Then Jan 2024, my pump went out again but they confirmed that it did not send any metal debris down the line. They replaced it with the new recalled pump. But then Feb/March I was still having issues with it stalling. They ended up replacing the fuel pump in the tank as it was not meeting demand on startup. And then a week later the PCM failed and they replaced that and it is still in the shop as it is still stuttering.

I've been using EDT since the original replacement back in 2022 and then again this year after the recall pump was installed. And have been getting diesel at the same stations and the diesel was tested. Which came back all good.

I'm sure that sounds like a nightmare. My sons just turned 110k he uses hot shot secret still has original pump no issues. I have heard of a few but honestly I'm a dealer and have heard of way more issues with the 2.0 and the 3.6 but they also made tons more of those. I understand guys have had issues just nobody I know personally. I wonder if it's just random pumps or certain build dates? I have a 21 and a 22 and my wife has a 22 my sons is a 22. I'm really surprised he hasn't had issues he drives hard had 37 and gears since day 1 switch to 40 about 6 months ago
