105k here. No issues except normal battery replacement.
im planning to run until it stops and then swap in a V8, hopefully not until 200k

Solid plan (same as mine ) i wish someone would make a DIY swap kit. I have a 5.3 in the garage but haven't found a DIY kit yet. I don't want to pay more than the worth of the jeep to swap engines.

The 4.0 is a viable option. It's actually a pretty good engine and can be built reliably.

Pressure is volume, or flow, against resistance. You can't have minimal flow and not maintain pressure. It's not possible. If there was oil starvation, you'd see the pressure fluctuate a bit due to air in the oil galleries and being compressible.
I wonder about putting an extra quart in these when running extreme angles, but if you aren't seeing a pressure drop, then you have plenty of flow. Can't have pressure without it. It's basic hydraulics.


agreed, which is what has me stumped. I've never seen oil pressure drop while in the whoops, 60 mph, for over 20 miles. Oil level has always shown full and no indication of consumption/loss. To see my cam ground up so much with each failure I'd suspect it's lack of oil. I've seen how oil squirts out at 20 psi without a valve cover so i have a hard time thinking there's not enough oil on the cam lobe/follower. I know beating the shit out of this engine doesn't help, but it would be nice to know exaclty what/how the beatings connect to the cam failure.

still holding up pretty well, some rock rash on fenders and hinges bubbling but not bad for 100k rolling 40’s.

Cool, I've got a lot of friends around here who grew up in Edmond. The way they describe it from back then sounds like a flat NW Arkansas as far as the gravel roads and farm fields. Man I miss cursing those gravel roads with friends and with the top off.

2020 Sport S, 6MT. I did have the "tick" and replaced cams and lash adjustors at 61k miles, one set of dead batteries, and recently replaced the spark plugs and PCV valve. Oil changes every 5k miles. I would love to "upgrade" but the current state of the used market doesn't make sense for me to trade it in. When companies give high discounts for new units, it drives the used market into the tank.

I'll be joining you this summer (96,500). 2020 JT Overland purchased new in June 2020. Very pleased with this solid truck. Still on original batteries and brakes, second set of tires. Only service was a drivers side cam phaser replacement and an OEM windshield at 65k (highway rock strike). I'll be hanging on to it unless they bring back Punk'n Orange.
