I would drill right down the center of the stud , it’s trashed anyway. Start small then move up to larger bits til you cut thru the threads.. I’ve had to do it a few times before I retired after 50+ years twisting wrenches. If you chisel you are almost guaranteed a damaged wheel.

I need to take pics of the custom grind chisels I've made.........
If I was to try to drill that, I'd still use a Dremel to cut the stud off so you aren't drilling 2" of stud for no reason. Why drill 1 plus inches of stud that's empty. Chop it off.
But then if you have the Dremel, slice the nut.

But keep the danged air chisel 50 feet away from that thing. That's using a sledge hammer to kill a fly.

When you restore things that are over 100 years old - you know the tricks, eh?

I know there is not much left but have you tried to hammer a smaller socket on to it to see if it has enough to take it off?

My vote, drill through with a small bit, then a couple larger bits, break off the lug, wheel comes off, then replace the lug.

You may want to drill this out. Center punch the center of the bolt and only drill as deep as the bottom of the lug nut. This way you can save the wheel and only need one new stud.

Need one of these bad boys right here and some heat on the nut. Not a torch heat. But maybe an induction heater to swell the nut a bit. Best damn chisel I've ever owned. Got the set had them over 15 years.

Yes. If using a chisel, don't use one with a 90 degree end, use one that's more of an angled end - 30 degrees or so. And the long side against the stud. That will hold the chisel against the stud while splitting the nut. I take it a bit farther and taper it so the right side as seen in your picture is sharpened a bit as well. So it's sharp across an angled end and sharp along one side. Cuts down and splits as it goes in.

I've made a few custom chisels. You make it based on the goal.

My Dremel is ready if needed......

Fuck it, grab the cut off wheel and chop the wheel off and work from there. Not the most cost effective option in regards to parts.......but labor wise be down in under 10 minutes and no burn through drill bits, chisels and tools.
