While stuck in freeway traffic this weekend (thanks, superbowl) I received a rather long text message from a co-worker. My phone was plugged in via USB, so the radio helpfully read it to me. The entire time it was reading the message, the AC stopped flowing. As soon as it was done, it kicked back up.
I tested this for the rest of the trip (had my wife send me texts of various lengths). Every time it read a text, it shut off the AC blower. Even if the blower was at a low setting, it shut it off.
Anybody else ever notice this?

Yes mine does it on phone calls and texts.

Your vehicle is minimizing extra noise, allowing you to hear your messages better.

I can see their thinking but cutting off the fan is too much. The fan at the 3 setting is very quiet and would still allow some AC to flow. Does anyone know if there a way to turn that “feature” off?

Maybe the people behind the Tazer have or can add an option for this? Never noticed it myself but bet I won’t ever not notice it now ?

anyone ever figure this out? I would love to turn this silly feature off. I can hear the messages and stuff just fine. I dont want it turning off every time i want to send a message through voice.

Not sure if a solution but a workaround.. I just don’t use the UConnect… android auto and apple CarPlay don’t do this for me.

Faced with the alternative of people complaining that the voice recognition doesn't work, I completely understand why they're doing this.

When I'm using voice control, I appreciate that it is smart enough to get the noise out of the equation so I have the best shot at it working correctly. Voice to text isn't perfect as it is, I can't imagine how much worse it would be with the climate control blasting the microphone.

How often are you using this that it's become a problem for maintaining your cab's temperature?

It's not turning off the climate control, it just turns down the fan speed. It does it to me whenever I'm using a Bluetooth connection to the phone. If I connect the phone with a USB cable, it doesn't do it.

While I would like to agree with you, I also have a Tesla which has no problem recognizing my verbal speech with the A/C on full blast. Nor do any phone call or text affect the A/C fan speed. The fact is, Jeep is still stuck on antiquated tech.

Not suggesting otherwise. But it does help. Jeep microphones are notorious for issues due to the way a Jeep is made. I don't see the harm in something like this to help.

pretty often as i prefer to just talk to respond to my text than try to type on a phone. I like to keep cool while carrying on a conversation instead of air off and on every 3 seconds.
