Anyone have any advise about insurance after doing an amw conversion? I hate to be under insured but would also hate to mess around and get dropped. Maybe a collector insurance might be best?

Go talk to your insurance agent. Tell him what you want to do, and how much it is going to cost. Ask what he recommends, based on the insurance rules in your state.

The biggest problem with mods to the vehicle is they greatly increase the acquisition and replacement costs without a proportional increase in value. The insurance companies will not provide coverage for them unless they know in advance and agree to cover them, usually with a significant premium increase. The standard premium rates and repair costs are all based on the factory configuration tied to the VIN. It doesn't matter how many pictures and receipts you have, there is very little allowance for payment on lost mods they didn't know about.

Allstate has customization insurance that you can add to policy. I’m sure others have similar. I’ve got extra 10k added to mine I think.
We just switched to state farm last year, and my agent told me to just tell her what the vehicle is valued at and she'd adjust it accordingly.

Progressive was the same. We valued mine at $100k. He said if I ever had a claim I may have to back it up with receipts.
