But to believe that this isn’t coming down the pike is just stupidity on your part…
For those not on board with EVs, it is more akin to "forced down our throats" than "coming down the pike". California, for one, is already proposing banning new ICE vehicle sales, starting the phase out in 2026 and total ban on new sales in 2035. That is clearly "forced down our throats".

This might be the longest I've seen one of these threads get before going political.

The original post had nothing political in it. It was just a comparison of two vehicles. Think about that for a second.

I know this may offend some, but it's disheartening how any talk EV at all induces the same tired rhetoric from those not interested in it, regardless of the actual topic. Almost like a child crying because someone else is enjoying their ice cream.

Okay, then back on topic and away from politics and rhetoric (the art of effective or persuasive speaking) and personal insults like calling people crying children. Back to comparing the two vehicles in the video on a technical basis...

Whichever is the most subsidized will win out.
Free markets have been dead for years.
Yeah, Tesla is a good example of free market failure

"Dammit, where's my horse and buggy! What's up with this new fangled Iron Horse, and Iron Buggy! You'll never catch me in one of those! Too loud, too smelly!"

Change will happen. People despised gasoline cars and motorcycles when they first came out, this is just this generation's version of that "despise". People felt those contraptions were being forced down their throats then, as they do now. Some folks still feel that way about touch screen phones and texting.

Currently I'm not sold on a pure EV as of yet, as I'm not patient enough to wait for the charging when long distance driving. I am, however, interested and willing to get on board with Hybrids. If the Gladiator had come in an 4xE version when I bought mine, I probably would own one.

For a lot of people, an EV or a Hybrid would make sense. For example, Wyoming has the highest average miles/per year of most drivers at just over 24k miles per year. That translates to under 70 miles/day, if you drove every day. or 100 miles/day if you only drove it 5 days a week. The average driving range of a straight EV is over 200 miles. As always, your mileage may vary.

Like with Solar; the technology, reliability and efficiency will continue to improve. Where the government/power companies are willing to do so, the power infrastructure will improve, and move away from Coal and Fossil fuel power generation. Even Nuclear power generation has come a long way from those large ugly powerplants, and a hell of a lot safer.

Some of what you've said sounds a bit like me, especially the above. Even my son, a millennial, 42, says that EVs are NOT for everyone, gas will have its place for a while and hybrids will be the thing for most for a while to come.
All bets are off if they come up with a JT 4xe with the same payload and towing as I have now. Doesn't have to be better, just has to match it. Range won't matter with a hybrid.
We've loving my wife's 4xe but tonight we discussed why my son and his family FLEW from FL to IA for a visit and borrowed my GAS JT for his other visits in our state.
I'm not trying to sell anything but some logic and truth.

Anyway, seeing what I've seen with the JLU 4xe Rubicon - yeah, it's a killer Jeep - on the road or trail. When the battery gets low you go into hybrid mode - still a killer Jeep because of the wild torque and HP from that thing.

All EV Jeep off-road? Hmmm, not yet.......... but a cool concept, in the case of the video - perhaps to some a proof of concept?

Just saw this video from TFL. With almost twice the HP of our gas version and it is literally a direct drop in I think this has a lot of promise…

There was also this write up a few years back, as to why delivery companies are going electric.

Ideal for city driving, start/stop driving, short commutes, all of which kill ICE vehicles.
The way many people drive ICE vehicles is destructive to the engines

There's a Rivian facility here that I drive past when going to Sam's Club. There's usually a couple of the Amazon EV vans parked there on Saturday. I regularly see the EV vans making deliveries, they are easy to spot. I have not yet seen any FedEx or UPS EV delivery vehicles.

I've had personal experience driving both a Tesla (Model Y) and a Rivian. While I love the instant torque of EVs, I personally wouldn't own one NOW except as an in town daily commuter. I wouldn't mind a plug in hybrid to get the best of both worlds though. I think the industry is betting on a a breakthrough in battery or charging technology. Without that, I don't see widespread adoption happening easily.
