Exactly I would love a setup like this. Right now I'm only seeing the weird tailgates on full sized trucks but with the uniqueness and rugged look of the jt I believe 2021 jts will have some additional features that's more useful I hopei would rather Jeep persue some sort of storage in the bed sides like the ‘Ram box’ deal. (If they Have to add more gadgets)
I had RamBox on my Ram and they were great. Seriously, wouldn't buy a full sized truck without them. The barn door tailgate would be cool too. For our lit'l trucks I see the "Decked" system as pretty cheap, if you don't mind giving up bed depth, for bringing functionality to the bed.Exactly I would love a setup like this. would be nice to have a system like the decked system but split in the center with pull grips on each side where they flip up to become kinda like a side rack for when you want the depth of the bed and something that could mount on top to make a full rack for kayaks ect. It would be litteraly like a three way functional master bed design.I had RamBox on my Ram and they were great. Seriously, wouldn't buy a full sized truck without them. Since I have the LE tonneau cover I'm debating if I'll make the Decked plunge because the space between the Decked floor and the cover will be pretty small. Not sure I'd be gaining anything other than pull out drawers. If anyone has an opinion on that let me know!
I like your idea about the DECKED system being able to flip up. We are constantly running ideas by our engineers. As far as mounting something to the DECKED for kayaks, that can be done. There is a steel subframe in the system and you can figure out how to mount to it.Wo

Have you already purchased the LE tonneau cover for your Gladiator?I had RamBox on my Ram and they were great. Seriously, wouldn't buy a full sized truck without them. The problem with the decked system is you get the draws for space but you lose the functionality and depth of the bed. I'm guessing it would be a pain to take the thing out every time you needed the depth in the bed. If you had the ability to simply pull each side straight up and have a lock mechanism where they didn't just flop over then sure you still don't have full functionality but you would still have a small space to use the depth and if you did want to just keep one side in you could do that as well. Better functionality . Maybe make this a different version of it
It’s not necessarily easy to jump onto a 37” wheel. I can do it with some effort, but add 30 years to my age and my knees, and that becomes not an option. Not everyone is nimble.People already whimpering and puffy eyed because a Gladiator costs too much, I don't think adding a $3k tailgate is going to help with that.
A step? You've got two back tires already equipped with a non skid surface for that. People goind to want a golf club caddy, and make up mirror under the hood next.
All good ideas. As I said, we are always looking for ways to improve. Unfortunately, we are limited in some ways as to where and what we can do with our system. Hopefully down the road, we will be able to explore all different designs. Until then, the DECKED system can be removed in about 25-30 minutes for the mid-sized systems. It's a bit faster for the full size pickups, with the ammo cans in the rear as well. You can remove it, but you might not want to do it all of the time. The problem with the decked system is you get the draws for space but you lose the functionality and depth of the bed.
