A couple of dealerships near me including where I bought have an express lane and I don't even need an appt for regular service like oil changes and tire rotations. I think I'd be scheduled within a week if I called for them to check something else out

My Local Jeep dealers here in NJ were all 3-4 weeks out this time last year. In the last 6 months, it has gotten better and my last two appointments were only 1-2 weeks out.
Where in NJ are you. I am in NJ just called two dealers yesterday. One gave me Oct 31, the other Nov 4

Somerset county - Fullerton and Global on rt 22. I went to Fullerton 2x now over the last few months, but be warned they're terrible about 50% of visits so make sure you look over everything before you leave.

A short list of issues with them include:
  • Not tightening drain plug in the rear differential (oil drained out on the road).
  • Failure to diagnose faulty wiring harness - replaced transmission (warranty) to have me pick it up only to go in limp mode before I left the lot. Jeep spent 3 weeks in shop. I ended up having an actual transmission shop fix the issue with about $0.10 of electrical tape. But I guess I got a brand new transmission out of the deal - that was a plus I guess.
  • Incorrect oil change - 11 quarts of T6 in my EcoDiesel
  • Unable to diagnose issues - bottoming out, rattles, and just general incompetence. I no longer go/make an appointment unless I diagnose the issue myself so I can tell them the issue and they don't waste my time.

I have only been to global a few times and work seems to get resolved, but their service advisors are extremely overworked (they only have 1 for all of Jeep) and communication is basically non-existent.

Pick your poison.

Yes …and depending on what you are getting done it may be longer to get completed.

Jeep had my wife’s JL for 45 days to replace a battery pack. VIN specific. Parts back orders.

I guess it depends on location. I just went to my dealers website and they had many appointments available this week. Crazy times we live in.
Well, you live in Texas where business is normal, please don't tell others in those northern states, we are all ready have enough people here.

I live in So Cal and I just drive into the dealer and get my Ram 1500 serviced with no appointment. I recently had a warranty issue with an emissions sensor and it was fixed the same day. Oil changes and tire rotations are the same way. I just show up and its an hour or two with a free car wash. Waiting for parts can be an issue depending on what parts you need

My dealer is in Lexington NC, can call or go online to schedule appointments. I can get in in 2-3 days. The longest they've ever scheduled me out was a week.

Thanks. I was actually able to get an appointment next Monday at Precision Jeep in Butler.

That smacks of C-suite level decisions not making sense in the real world. Labor is easier to cut back because the consumer doesn't expect much anymore. And frankly, it shouldn't be a huge surprise- you can point, click, and pickup with minimal interaction with a human nowadays and nobody bats an eye. We did it to ourselves and the last two years accelerated it.

Add to that increases in overhead for the retailers, including higher COGS, utilities, CAM fees/rent, and the specter of higher wages for unskilled workers and it all makes sense why your local Best Buy is short staffed.

All of that being said: My better half is a retail manager with a large outdoor lifestyle brand. Though her store is crushing numbers, corporate is cutting back on hours incessantly compelling them to run at bare bones to sock away money for the coming recession.

The retail sector is gearing up for contractions in consumer spending as a result of the recession we're in but nobody wants to talk about.
This….. all day long. ??? brace for impact. Rich/poor disparity is about to get a whole lot worse…. 1929/2023 ?

I've not needed any work done to my Jeep other than an ABS sensor going out, I want to say it was about a week out. Typically I can schedule the Jeep Wave oil changes within a week or two. I just scheduled ahead for December to get my last free one done.

Already feeling it. Got a letter from my retirement account yesterday. Lost 1/3 of it since Nov. 2020. My monthly income went down $1,300. Thinking on going back to work.

Let me know how it goes. We need to make a service guide on this site with a directory of dealers worth going to for service.

Thankfully Florida same day or same week for scheduling. I'd probably look the next city or further out if possible, no way i'd wait 6 to 8 weeks. Just seems clownish, but then again its clown time.
