I don't have a wall behind mine when I back it in.......... just another 20' of garage and a car behind it.
My backup lights scorch the stuff behind me, but I'd never see brake lights back there.
It's a crappy 1980 uninsulated, unfinished garage inside.
Close the garage door and back up to it to see the reflected light.

I back in, so I'd have to not open the door and listen to my wife yelling watch out, you forgot to open the garage door! LOL

You know what,…I think the Jeep community can unite together and come up with solution(s) for you so you can see your 3rd brake light from the comfort of your seat.
I would grab your wife’s body length beauty mirror she has in the bed room and stick it in the garage so you can see yourself backing up. Every wife has one, even mine and it would be the perfect answer to this problem.

HAHA - those mirrors disappeared as we approached 60

Next time it's dark as I'm backing down the driveway, since the doors are white, I'll just make some excuse to not open the door.

She's really totally paranoid about that as in the past, each of us has dinged a Jeep via a garage door.
Her ding was the most expensive - mine was totally minor color transfer and I had an excuse - the door opener in the Jeep had just been set up and was acting goofy - I watched as the door went up - great, that works. I hit the button to close it, great, that works, then hit the button to go back up and it was going up, I timed it so I could go in as the door was high enough except for some reason the door stopped and came part way back down.
Lesson learned -never assume it works! Trust but verify.

UPDATE!:
took the cover off the gate and unplugged the 3rd light. Cleaned it out, lubed it up and same for the connector coming into the base of the gate.

NOPE! It’s done, gone and dead. Now all I need to do is either buy a new one or snap a photo and send it to the dealership and they will call when it’s in for install.

Yeah mine failed on my 21 JTRD a month or so back, dealer had a replacement next day and swapped it out.

I guess my warranty is up to replace it so they ordered one for me and I’ll have the light tomorrow morning and I’ll install it myself. ($145cad)

UPDATE:
Possible relearn??!

Got in the truck to go pick up my new light and lo and behold, the light is working.

I’m monitoring now. Hoping the cleaning and lubing of the connectors actually did something.

I put some dielectric grease on the connectors and it started working again for about......a couple of brake pedal pushes. I got a new one from Benny at All Mopar parts and it's been working ever since. I think it is not a connection issue. It's a circuit board issue.

Picked up my new beautiful brake light ($166 cad after tax) and I actually entertained doing an “unboxing” video where I first talk about my feelings and want to know how everyone else is feeling, then come in hot talking about the weather then maybe send up the drone for a nice aerial shot of the box then maybe at around the 10 minute mark…. Open it ….and discover it again for the first time….

So while the idea was great and I’d be famous, I realized I had already opened the box. The wife then said, “why don’t you pot it?” In my shock and amazement and disbelief of what I heard, she repeated her question! I said, it looks to be all sealed and she said, “that hasn’t stopped you before”.

I love her.

Maybe you recall my post from last winter when my backup cam stopped working........ upon Hootbro's suggestion (I think it was him?) I pulled apart the connector by the bed floor and basically just pulled apart and put back and it's been perfect since. I was going to pull it apart and use the dielectric on it but figure it's working, leave it. Apparently that's a common point for connection issues?

The wife then said, “why don’t you pot it?” In my shock and amazement and disbelief of what I heard, she repeated her question! I said, it looks to be all sealed and she said, “that hasn’t stopped you before”.
If I mentioned potting it in the presence of my wife, she'd ask why I wanted to plant it with the flowers.....
