I have RS Engineering Gen 3 steps. The passenger side does not come down all the way. When I open the door, it comes down about 1/2” and that’s it. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks, I had looked at that but didn’t see one that matched my issue. The motor is getting power and the steps extend and retract but it only comes out by an inch. It was working fine till today.:(
Ah man. Figured it was a start to sone troubleshooting. Hopefully you get the issue resolved. Maybe try contacting the RSE? Cheers

Did you try pulling the fuse to reset the system?

We had an issue with their steps on wife’s Jeep. But hers would go down all the way but not back up all the way when the temperature outside was below 60. Contacted RSE and after a short phone call, they sent us a new motor. No more issues. Give them a call

I did pull the fuse last night and it didn't do anything. I pulled it again today and now it works. Not sure what changed from last night to today but it's working for now.

I would contact RSE. I have contacted them in the past and they were awesome to deal with.

I recommend disconnecting the power wires to that step from the main loom; it's a short wire connection about 6" long.
I found a bent/crushed prong in the connector that would intermittently cause issues along with bad motors or controllers that were also replaced.

If your in a real bind the Gen 2 steps use the power window motor from the front door of 2007 F150. I purchased the actual Ford part and my steps have been flawless

Thanks all. As of right now it’s working again. I changed the fuse just in case.

Reviving thread. My steps have been going up and down intermittently like they have a mind of their own. I would open drivers door, and I can hear the one on the passenger said move. Sometimes they go up and down, sometimes they don't. Now passenger side won't even move and driver side is stuck down.

I called RSE and they said it was probably the controller so I ordered a new one. Hoping that's all it is.
