Well, I have been on this site for over a year . I have 101,500miles on my JTR. I have never had a single issue with my Rubicon. It literally has been the most dependable vehicle I ever owned . But 2 days ago I was coming home from work and I had went about 30 miles and reached the highway. I only have to travel about 9 miles on the highway which goes straight into a long 1 mile climb.
I pulled out and it shifted 1,2,3 and was pulling great then it hit 4th and literally it's like someone pulled the power rug right out from underneath it. I never got out of that 4th gear and I usually runs 6th to the top hits 5th for a short amount then right back to 6th ,7th and then 8th.
I got home .. no lights. Thought we'll maybe air cleaner needs cleaned as it is dusty where I been working. Nope that wasn't it even though I put an new one in it.
Took off the next morning and it acted normal again. Never made it 10 miles and ..Ding. check engine light came on. So I have a flash Cal + for taller tires etc. And I stopped in a wide spot and went to the code reading section .
PO342.. Camshaft position sensor . Well I barely got it started back up cranked straight for 20 seconds at least drove to a parts house on the way to work I pass by & bought one. Thought we'll I got a 50/50 shot at it being the easy to get to on the (passenger side )or the hard one (Drivers side). So I got a T-30 from the parts guy changed the easyone.Cleared the code and Hit the starter and vrroom started right up . Only one thing left to do . So I put it out on the road and it ran like a scalded dog. I swear it's running better than it has in 2 weeks.
Mileage even increased . Went from 15.2 back to 16.0+ . Now it's holding it's own on the hills again etc.. I am sure glad it turned out to be the one that I chose😂. I think I am going to get the other one and do it this fall when I have more time .
To add a little more to this about 2 weeks ago it was 95 degrees & 70% humidity one day and it was hotter thn 2 Hobs of 🔥 and I was sitting in it running with the AC on. And had been doing this about an hour and all the sudden it stumbled. I thought the Electric fan had kicked in and paid it no more mind. But that day started the gradual degradation of power leading up to the story.
So for 45.00 it's running better than it has in weeks 😂.

Where are these replaced? I’m at 63k, but climbing fast. It was 60k two weeks ago. And it’ll be 65 by the time I get home. I’d like to put these on my list. Thanks.

In the valve pan covers near the rear each side right beside the coil pack that is close to the fire wall.

Once you loosen the T30 screw you wiggle a little and work it up out of the seal . Then start lifting and tilt left and right and it will come right out. Took literally 5 min to change the one on the passenger side.

I just did the oil control solenoid seal on driver side when I swapped back to mopar coil packs. Since the intake was off anyway. I need to do passenger. Both were/are seeping.

What's the interval on replacing the coils? I ask because some are as low as 60-70K miles and almost always by 100K-ish. The only vehicles I've heard chunking coils with mileage that low were old MkIV VW's.

Impressed!!
In a couple things, that the truck has preformed so well, and that you figured out (fixed) the issue so quick! Nice work! My 21 JTR has been the best vehicle I've owned (knock wood) !
Brings me to a question... is there a good comprehensive workshop manual anywhere?? I do a fair amount of work on my vehicles, but I feel this thing is a giant rolling computer... and an electrical engineer I'm NOT.
