A proper Jeep full EV with solid axles would be awesome. Like the magneto 2.0 and 3.0 concepts. 900+ ftlbs at 2 rpms. It would be the perfect powertrain for crawling and still be the quickest Jeep ever built. Win win in my opinion. Put a pack like the rivian large pack and you'd still see 300+ miles of range with Jeeps aerodynamics.
I agree with this. A full electric design that actually performs would be great.

Please show me the 950ftlb 4BT? Even if you turned the boost up high enough to get there it would blow up for sure. And it would still only be making <300hp. The hellephant is still a hemi and makes >1,000hp and 950ftlbs right from the crate. The 4BT was a decent swap in a <4k pound TJ. No chance in hell I want a 150hp boat anchor in a 6k pounds truck that I intend to drive at speed. Even the NA 5.7L makes almost as much torque as a fully tuned 4BT and 250 more horsepower.
4BT is a solid engine and easily can make 600-700 torques. The 4.5 is a common rail turbo that easily out torques the 6.4 engine with mild tuning and slightly larger turbo. But then again the 6.4 is a 392 motor not a 426 engine.

I have been building diesels for 20 years 1000HP v8 on the street damn few could drive that let alone survive driving that.
My Willy's build has a 4.5L with HP75 tuning is set for making 700 torques with studs, turbo and mild fuel injector increase. it will also run a lot longer than a 426 motor.... plus it is fuel efficient not something you can claim with a 426 power plant.
As to going fast last one we built cruises at 80mph on 40inch STT pros all day long and still got double digit fuel mileage. Not something you hellephant will ever claim
My W900 will smoke all 4 and run a uphill drag with 120K# on the pin in 8 sec.... She is making 5000# of torque.... Bobtail she will out run most modern day hotrods.... but I digress. You can get ridiculous to prove your point. For the normal driver 500HP is a handful, 1000 is deadly. For a JT a little pep in the step is good if you are a hot rodder a V8 is the way to go. If you want to drive it daily a diesel is the way to go. Just deleted my Gladiator and tune it 62 mile trip to work she rings 26 MPG on 39s and 4.56 gears in mixed traffic and stop lights. 28mpg on a long highway run. still under 300HP but over 450 torques.

As to show me... simple google search will turn up a world of hotrod diesels from 4BT to 15L Cats and Cummins. The uphill semi truck drag world makes some unreal large car hotrods.

Don't care about hybrid (longevity concerns) or the 2.0 four. Muy first choice would be the Hurricane inline 6 even if slightly detuned. Or the 5.7 Hemi which would be glorious.
Longevity is another one of those internet-skewed things...... people base on horror stories, in the small minority, while ignoring those with hundreds of thousands of miles on them all on original batteries and motors.
Several companies have shown their cars can indeed last as long as a typical gas powered vehicle, but Tesla leads the pack.

None of the listed choices.

Batteries add way too much weight and in actuality, have little range. My Tesla could only go about half the advertised distance.

Same with a hybrid. Hey, this is a Jeep, not some social experiment.

I think Hurricane-6 would be the correct choice, but any V8 would certainly stir my interest.

I know everyone wants V8s and turbos but for my money I want a normally aspirated inline 6 torque monster. I could care less about 380 hp, 225 is fine with me. The old school Iron Mike-based I6 was so damn reliable, really miss them.

These are the options? What a shit "poll". Give two choices that you know no one (in here) wants, and the third option as a softball pitch that you know will get a ton of "hell yeah brother!". Lol. Worst poll ever.

Honestly as someone that actually has built and continues to build engines, the engine in my two Jeeps had zero factor in my purchases. All I know is that I didn't want the hybrid option because it's not practical or necessary for my needs. Besides that, whatever they stick in the JT is fine with me. I don't tow and I'm not racing it.

Thanks for responding to my thread Greg, it's an honor and privilege whenever you share your cool and edgy feedback on the forum. Iam sorry my poll doesn't excite or inspire you but Iam just a simple man with simple ideas and cannot really rub elbows with people of your caliber.

Please accept my apology and I would love to participate in a better poll that isn't stupid, created by yourself, so that I might get just a sampling of what someone with vast knowledge would post.

Well admitting you have a problem is a great first step.

You and I are on the same page. A simple, reliable straight 6 with good torque would be perfect.

The reported percentages appear to be whacked unless I am getting too old and missing something....

As of my posting, the total percentage voting adds up to 110.4%.

I live in a place where repair shops are few and far in between. Hybrids can last a long time, no doubt, until they give problems and I'm stuck paying Gucci money to the only place that can repair it, the local Jeep dealership. Full electric seems atractive but range in the issue. Charging times are also an issue. If I'm going somewhere I don't want to have to wait an extended time to charge batteries. My pee brakes are long enough to shake it and go. If I stop to eat, it's grab and go. I do have electric and 220v in my new garage. Charging at home isn't an issue.

I second, third, and fourth the folks who are suggesting the Hurricane I6.

420 hp/469 lbâ‹…ft torque from a peppy turbo in a Gladiator would be game-changing, assuming the engine is reliable. Honestly the 510 hp/521 lbâ‹…ft torque Hurricane I6 High Output would be overkill. I don't need to melt the treads off my mud tires.

The total voters also does not agree with the total votes.

The percentages are being calculated off the total voters.

Why a turbo 6 over a V8?
