A 2 door gladiator would be very tempting unless it had IFS and or a turbo 4 cylinder. A 2 door gladiator with extended cab would be even better.

The market is already getting crowded
with compact/unibody 4-door city trucks.

My bet is a return to the original Scrambler.
A 2-door Wrangler JLU 117-inch wheelbase
extended cab would have a practical bed
and have a market segment all to itself.

An extended cab with jump seats
like a Tacoma
for a couple of kids or one desperate adult
offering secure gear storage
would be a seller in my opinion.

A 117-inch wheelbase Wrangler platform
would have a much easier time on trails
than the 137-inch Gladiator limousine
with its poor turning radius,
poor break over angle
and rear overhang poor departure angle.

Says I, who has never driven a single trail.
But I live on a ranch, so it works for me.

Man I hope they don't make Wrangler into a sub-brand the way Ford did with Bronco. Research showed that Bronco had more brand equity than Ford; while Wrangler holds strong value, Jeep is an iconic name that holds immense brand equity.

Yeah I quoted it as a FWIW because the author said he attended the event. I know you (@Jrgunn5150) have inside exposure (I've read enough of your posts to assume that), so I value what you're saying. You mention the Compass platform, which would mean the Scrambler would be built with the Ram Rampage (which also uses the Compass platform). This departs from online speculation of Scrambler being a Gladiator or Dakota partner.

Honda Ridgeline and Hyundai Santa Cruz come to mind.

Well the Ridgeline isn't compact but its a unibody city truck...

Like I said though, I don't know names, it's entirely possible the platform I've seen, quoted, and worked on, is destined for something else.

The product I'm thinking of, J4P, is large volume, which is why it's a big deal to us.

Entirely possible they poop out some Wrangler with a bulkhead and half cab for a premium price as well as a halo vehicle.

I will say, a 2 door anything, is not a volume product in todays market. So, one can infer, if a Wrangler based, 2 door "Scrambler", with or without a V8 were to appear, it would be an SRT-esque, TRX class high end vehicle.
