Just did a 700 miles shakedown run with altitude going up 10’000+ ft no issues (22’ JTRD)
I just got back from a trip around colorado. Lots of driving at 14k+ ft and the diesel was flawless, with the snorkel. No noticeable loss of power up there, just opted to manually shift to keep it in boost on the passes.

AEV Snorkel fitted to Mojave/Euro hood.
Just had to draw the hood cut by myself and also cut the inside lip from the bezel.

Yeah but the AEV snorkel is the ugliest one ever made other than home grown ones I've seen ?

I just started following this conversation here guys, and have a question regarding AEV’s Cyclone top piece. When I first looked into it, there was concern or some issues with using the Cyclone top piece causing problems in a couple vehicles. Does anyone know if the issues have been resolved and the current product is working well?
Go to AEV website and look at the required TSB required by dealership before installing...

I specifically chose the Rapid Induction intake because it retains the bottom half of the OEM air box. The AEV snorkel uses the factory lower half as well, you just replace the factory intake tube.
Is the AFE Rapid induction intake 52-10005R you put on easier to open and close vs the factory top? I find that the factory one gets caught on a bunch of stuff around it when trying to open and close it to check on how dirty the filter is. Or is it harder to open with the solid plastic tube it comes with?

I didn't notice, but I never found the factory box to be difficult either.

Not trying to beat a dead horse but that is the cleanest cut I have ever seen.

What was your procedure? Hole saw then nibbler on the straight cut?
Yep, but I also cut short of my line and used grinding stones and a sanding drum, if I remember correctly, to make it smooth, checking the fit with the piece from AEV.

So, how much did you cut under the line?

I sure do not want to over cut but don't want to do too much post processing either.

So, did you cut at the line on the template, just under or over?

It’s been a while, but I’m sure I undercut a little. You can always remove some little by little. You can’t add it back once it’s cut. You’ve got some leeway since the cowling overlaps the hood a bit.
