So I finally got my shell back from ARE last week and headed out to the COLD desert this weekend..have to say really impressed how warm i stayed inside the shell. LOVE the OVS 270 awning and walls...so much room inside

What do you use to put between the Jeep and the ground? Figured cold air would come in from underneath. Good looking setup for sure.

my cooler and storage totes that I keep all my camping crap in were placed around the side and rear...first night was windy but fine inside the "awing tent" there is a gap between the awning and the shell that is exposed but didnt seem to blow in thru there much

Just got my ARE CX w OTR coating. Absolutely love how it looks and the general utility of having a covered bed. Took a couple of 5 hr trips since and have a little vibration of the top between 61-64 mph. Nothing driving around town and nothing at 70+mph. No vibration before adding the top. I’ve adjusted it a little which yielded some benefits but it’s definitely still there. Anyone else notice anything?

Note: Pic is immediately after first install. Have since pushed it closer to the cab
which has helped a bit. Won’t go any further though.

Edited to add a few pics. Cap too close possibly? Lifted JT allowing more air to pass under the Jeep and maybe up the gap between cap and cab?

Do you have the HD version or do you run the RTT on the CX Classic without trouble?

I run it without any issues. I don't keep it on there all the time. My rtt is currently forsale w/bed rack I have.
Nice - I just finished reading this entire thread and see that you commented on this same question earlier! I guess I should have kept reading first! LOL

Just ordered a CX Classic yesterday! Fingers crossed it delivers in 12 weeks like they are saying!

I wanted to get it with the Yakima cross rails, but they are on backorder for months and months and months... so... just the tracks and then I'll have to figure out my own rails I guess.

I used unistrut for my cross bars. Ordered the yakima "T" bolts. Works good.

After doing some looking on etrailer, I found what look to be the exact roof rack tracks that ARE uses on the caps (first link). The second link is the yakima landing pads. Then you have to buy the towers and the cross bars. Seems like all of us have the rack tracks but building up the rest of the system looks pretty pricey. Gonna go w Black Widow Overland's method and save some bucks.

Nice! I did something similar for a bed rack/rails on my JT now. I couldn't find anything I liked that worked well with a soft tonneau cover. So I made one of my own using T-Slot Aluminum (aka 80/20 aluminum). Works great, supported the RTT on a few trips and coincidentally works with the gutter mount Thule rails I have. Only bummer is the square T-slot aluminum is too big to use with the Yakima cargo box quick clamps.

Hmm... I plan on getting one of those T4 tents soon (now that we outgrew our RTT)... I never considered that the length of it would be longer than the bed. Good to know! That might change things if I would have to put the cargo box on every time we want to camp!

Or.. will it fit diagonally in the bed?
