I wonder with all the ARE quality issues if the Leer would be a better choice?

Some sweet looking setups, but I'd have to say anyone that has a color matched bed cap really needs a color matched hardtop IMO.

I ordered my CX Clasic a few weeks ago and hope I didn't screw up. I orderes it with the regular slider side windows and a front window that slides and hinges down for easy cleaning. The back window with the 2 locks, one on each side for strength and simplicity. I see many have the side opening windows and single handle rear. My dealer is great and strongly suggests to 2 rear handles. The side windows I am just not sure of but the standard sliders look smooth. Any thoughts? should I really look into changing my order? Expected delivery is around Aug 1.

I love my are cx classic. Looks great and adds functionality. I recommend getting the matching body color paint, the inner felt liner, and the reinforced pet/dog screens on the side windows. Also, I think the tracks on the top are standard, if not, I recommend getting these too, so that you can easily mount a roof rack system.

I picked out and bought my Rubi on August 18, 2020 (the dealer just starede when I wrote the check). Mid Pandemic as it was, I bought the ARE Classic Topper the very next day, and it took 8 weeks to the day to get it delivered and installed. I don't like the clamps, don't really trust them, and when I got home I bolted the top on. I then installed Molle on all three sides and outfitted the bed to accommodate Atticus (see below) and all I felt was necessary. The recessed strip light provides more than sufficient illumination and Atti-boy doesn't hit his noggin on anything protruding. The color match is perfect because ARE uses Mopar Paint. No fading, no checkng, just a perfect match. Never noticed a leak or wind noise, and the rack is small but accomidates my needs.

Like you, I haul my 5 big dogs and just last week installed my ARE cap that I ordered in late December 2021. I removed the window screens and constructed and installed nylon webbing netting just the right size for my three 70 to 80 pound dogs‘ heads to poke out below and my two 130 pound dogs’ heads to poke out above. It allows for good ventilation, has always contained all my many dogs over the years and has lasted the lifetimes of each of my trucks.

With a spray in bedliner the velcro has a hard time sticking to the bed. I looked at the Evolve and the rear window hinge is complicated so I passed. The framed rear window looks strong and seals from dust well. Your build is top line. Congrats. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and was told about Aug 1.

Not sure how truthful they are, but the place claimed they could get it to stick with adhesion promoter and wider Velcro. We shall see. They didn't have any Evolves in stock for me to check out, so I'm buying it sight-unseen.

What is complicated about the hinge? Just an internal hinge versus the piano hinge on the Classic?

I'm hoping this thing seals well. Fingers crossed.

I will be insatlling a Bedrug also. If you put some clear epoxy on the bed liner first and let dry, the velcro will stick. Especially on the tailgate. I was told the adhesion promoter almost works. The hinge on the Classic is a tried and true simple design. My dealer is "old school" and likes simple. He has been selling caps for many years so I go with his advice for an off road rig. I like the idea of a solid one piece glass in the rear. I also like the idea of opening side windows but being simple and old school I went with the sliders. Less moving parts and less chance for leaks. I hope I don't regret my choices.

3m adhesive promotor wipe pads work well. I used some to prep the plastic top edge of the tail gate to get good quality 3M HD velcro to stick. I also use a scotch bright pad and some brake clean first to remove the easy oils/waxes first then the promotor to as a final touch. The brakeclean and scotch bright aren't enough on their own.

Ordered mine a couple weeks back - one thing to note and not sure if it’s accurate or not but my dealer mentioned they have doubled their production lines so they anticipate being able to get things back on track in terms of lead times. I ordered in early April and they are quoting early July for delivery but they are anticipating delivery in June. We’ll see…
