Who is having issues with their Key Fob flipping up while it's in their pockets. I had a Volkswagen back a few years ago and the key kept doing that and one day it snapped in half in my pocket. Anyone come up with a solution to keeping this brick stable in your pocket:headbang:

There are a few discussion on the forum about the key and possible solutions

Reflective tape.
If I need it open, cut it and replace it.

Yeah I'd be replacing every time I had to get in the jeep. My Fobs not like that

That would be great if I had power windows and power locks but I don't so mines not compatible with those. I need something to keep the key from flipping up in my pocket. Sucks.

There are leather fob covers out there that have a little hole that lines up with the button so you have to push your finger tip into the hole to trigger the key flip but it helps keep from hitting it accidentally. The ones I’ve looked at have open faces for the electric locks but they may have one out there that doesn’t.
Something like this might help you ...

To bad there isn't an aftermarket push button that's a little bit lower profile. The spring is about the same size as a mechanical pen spring. You might be able to find little heavier one from a pen to reduce the accidental key flip.

I use one of these. It contains the key and keeps it out of my pocket.

The loop on the key fob is exposed through the bottom of the holster. Keep a little luggage padlock in your console. When you have to valet park or go to the Service Dept you can lock it so that folks can not access the switchblade key and unlock the console, glove box or seat back. Your stuff will be “reasonably secure”.

I opened mine up and undid the wound up spring holding the key by a single revolution, now the key stays in. If I want the key I have to flip it out with some force or dig my nail into the ridge on the key. Haven’t had to use it regularly so its a mute point for me.

As a fellow Gobi Sport owner, take it from me that this is your fix. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/fob-key-detension.15896/
With the detensioned key, even if it gets released in your pocket, it can't open and eventually locks back in. It also makes it easier to close the key. When the key is all the way open and I push the button, the spring closes the key part way making it easy to close the key the rest of the way.
