My girlfriend's JL keyfobs are like that, and they do not keep the water out. Went kayaking with them, and ruined the one. Kept setting the panic off off on her Jeep after we dried it out. It works intermittently now, but most definitely a design flaw. Hope my JT's aren't like that. Anyone check with @JeepCares?

Can you guys please advise when the steel bumper restriction will end? I have tried to PM you and have received no response. Thanks

We just got this Gladiator in yesterday from Factory. Here is the key and I never noticed this before. I assume it is made that way so it can be easier to get the cover off.

It already has a large notch to aid in cover removal. It does not look intentional to me at all. Not sure how bad it affects the water resistance but that is terrible fit and finish for such a high dollar fob. There's a bunch of different ways they could have accomplished making the battery cover easy to remove. If they did this intentionally, fire the designer/engineer or at least demote him to the mail room. Hahahaha.

Purchased the AJT key fob. I have nothing to lose by trying it out.

I also agree this absurd on $70,000+CDN vehicle. What were the designer, engineers and QA thinking. 100% it wont be watertight.

I wonder if you could just cut those two tabs that are longer, and then use a double sided tape to hold that side of the cover on. Its not going to be watertight, but it will look much better.

They lost one of my keys while in transport. Had to wait a couple of weeks after they program it and it look like it was opened up like a clam. I had them deprogram it and program another one and that key fob was good. But you guys are right pay so much for a Jeep you shouldnā€™t get damaged items. Hope itā€™s covered under warranty.

Took mine apart and found out exactly what the problem is...

There is a notch next to the seal that doesnā€™t have a notch cut out on the cover.

The clips actually fit fine and will lock in place if you go on an angle. Here are the pics for reference

Correction itā€™s this whole area, not enough space for it on the cover

Looks like there is enough clearance there but maybe not. I think all the hooks/clips are snapping in on mine. Perhaps the part you circled is in the way just enough to keep it from seating properly. It would take some material removal to get it right as it took a significant amount of pressure in my vise to get the gap to go away. Rather than continue messing with it, I just ordered the AJT fobs.

Are these keys water resistant?

Not to be rude, but isnā€™t seeing it on this page enough? Donā€™t you already know about it?
