The tire you reference is spec'ed at 33.9" and 61 lb. My choice, 255-80-17E Falken, is 33.1" and 52 lb. I corrected my previous post to list the cubic inches at 219.9 not 216.

I have a max tow. Bought shocks and springs off a rubicon for $300 on Craigslist. Added a half inch spacer to the front . Now I run Kenda Klever 35x10.50. Tow 5K pounds all over TX and CO without issues.

Looks great! I was just looking at a set of Rubicon take offs on craigslist this morning for $300. Was that a .5 inch leveling kit? Im surprised you couldnt just go ahead and do the 35x12.5x17 tires with that. Did you have to cut out those front air damns on the sport?

the 255 85r17 lists out at 34" - 35" will go under max tow stock, pick up some 18" overland or jl sahara take off wheels in 18" and get the 285 75r18 size (35.1") tall, little taller than the 34.8" rating of most 35's, and not as porky fat, a little less than a 11.5" wide, it's the perfect 35" size imo (285 75r18)

i run 37's on mopar lift with 3/4" pucks additionally up front, i like pizza cutters, currently dreaming/waiting for 285 75r20 to be produced (would rate at 36.8" tall like most 37's do), 37's look right on gladiators, but i'd prefer skinnier options, gotta keep that diameter but bring on the skinny trend please, looks like it's coming, more 11.5" wide options, seems like more in the 285 range as well

Completely stock Max Tow with 37x12.50r17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on OEM Rubi wheels. No issues so far including driving all over muddy and primitive construction sites since we are one of the first trades out doing work. Planning to add a lift or spacer at some point but for every day driving this will suffice. Down to between 16.1-17 mpg from stock.

Wow then 35's should be no problem!

Just added Micky Thomson Baja Boss A/T 255/85r17 (35/10R17). Very aggressive looking ATs compared to Falken ATs.

Pictures are with stock Rubicon suspension and stock wheels.

Very cool, those just came out o believe. Did they take much weight to balance? Are they quiet?

Mac,

It looks like the tire shop used about the same amount or less weights to balance the tires compared to Falken ATs.

I don't have enough miles to say that they are very quiet tires, but I thought the Falken were very quiet, and I don't think these will be as quiet. But nothing like an MT. I am willing to compromise little bit of tire noise for how aggressive these are. Also, I am really liking the pizza cutter look. As far as my butt dyno goes, I don't feel any loss of power due to larger size. Maybe due to how skinny the tires are?

On a stock Max tow, would 35's damage the fender liners when flexing? Would an inch spacer help?

^ Alot depends on the offset of your wheel. I ran -18's with 35x12.5's for almost a year with no lift on my Max Tow sport, and never touched the inner fender liners. It'd rub the outer edge of the front fender at flex, but that's about it.

Yes, wheel width and offset is the key. Even with a good amount of positive offset (+10) on aftermarket wheels, 35s would NOT even come close to fitting my Max Tow. Had to use a 2" level in the front and take a Dremel to the edge of the air dam on both sides.

I think on stock wheels you might clear 35s, maybe, but I wouldn't recommend it on totally stock suspension with stock bumpers and closure panels.

I would assume stock, +44 or close would not have had the same issue as it would not have pushed the front outside edge of the tires that far forward.

@Shane….I had zero issues with 35s. No issues with 37s but decided to that route for aesthetics. Once I get the lift I will be more confident about hitting the trails but for every day driving 37s are no issue.

Thanks for the info, I need to run 37 BFG AT KOs from tire store to home(about 5 miles). Then to the shop (about 25 miles) later this month for the 3.5” lift, 5:13’s or 4:88’s ?, and ARB lockers.
