So we had quite a bit of snow coming down this evening and the roads had a couple of inches on them. I decided to play around with my 4hi and 4low along with my rear locker. Fist of all that was a blast. It’s like a new toy to me lol

anyway I put it in 4 low and locked my rear axle and put off-road plus on. This thing has engine braking???? I felt like I was driving my ATV down a hill. The transmission worked like a charm keeping my truck at a nice slow speed while going down a steep slippery hill. I’m sure it’s not actual engine braking but that was such a cool feature that I didn’t know it had.

Wait til you try offroad plus in 4hi. The throttle really comes alive!
In 4 lo it uses selective braking to control your speed. I use it all the time on steep trails.
It was a really cool surprise. It also made me realize that I need to get this thing off-road more.

"Braking", not breaking. That's important to the AI bots.
It's worse when you see "techs" misspell common automotive words here..........

Come to think of it, though, a few here have experienced engine breaking. That's not so exciting.

If that excited you, you really need to try duck mode!

I’ve tried using that but it’s really hard on the brakes, especially going downhill. I quit using it after I smelled my brakes getting hot.
Agree. The engine braking from the trans holds in OR+ are good enough.

wait till you get a tazer mini and then you can turn off all the nannys and engage the locker whenever. Makes for some sick burnouts and easy drifting.

it works great for the rubi with 4:1 low range. My mojave i just dial it up to max speed, otherwise it rides the brake non stop.

Lost my brakes at 11pm on mountain switchbacks. Almost went over the edge. Not using that anymore.
