I've got the Factory Katskin seats and they've been taking a beating. My German Shepherd goes with me pretty much everywhere and the rear seats are showing it. Katskin is frustratingly unhelpful in care instructions. They won't say anything beyond use a mild soap to clean and the leather will stay perfect forever.

We know that's not true, so what should I do? How do I care for these poor seats?

If they’re 100% leather then yes use saddle soap on them. If they’re going to be in the sun a bit then use a leather protectant on them after they’ve been scrubbed down. You’ll have to let the jeep sit for a day or so while it soaks it up and depending on the condition it may take a couple applications. I like Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP. Just like the commercial says,” I use that Sh!t on EVERYTHING!” Gun holsters, boots, belts, even my oil skin hats and jackets get a treatment with it twice a year.

Definitely looks like the seats have seen a lot of direct sun and wear over the 5+ years. do a search on Amazon, "leather cleaner protector". Lots of options. once you get them clean, chemically protected from UV, etc get some covers.

Thanks for the replies, there's so many products and recommendations online it hard to find real products that actually work. I see chemical bros everywhere. I generally avoid stuff that spends more on marketing than anything else. Furniture Clinic, Griots, Kiwi, Obenaufs and Geist have been on my radar, but Katskin absolutely refusing to recommend anything other than Ivory soap and that has been making me hesitate to use conditioners or anything more involved

I have cloth seats, but bought some Rubicon leather seats instead of buying another seat cover for the rear. I treat them with either Pecard leather dressing which has no smell. Or Griots 3-in-1 which has the leather cleaner smell which I actually like. I think the Pecard is way more conditioning so I use that as more of a long term protectant. So far after a few months there is no wear, but my dog is 10 years old and 70 lbs., but he goes with me everywhere.
