Nope, not worth the hassle.

Especially since most of the time when people want to steal your gas they just drill a hole in the tank.

Yes. Installed the Mopar one yesterday. Followed Quadratec video and was able to key lock to my JT key. I've wanted one for some time. Another barrier to stop someone from putting anything into my gas and siphon out. Sure they can drill a hole but that's a bit noisier than siphoning and I'd hope someone would take notice.

I did a few weeks ago. I was not concerned with gas theft but curiosity or vandalism. If someone wants the gas, a locked cap will not stop them.

Had mine on for a while now. Initially was awkward turning the cap while holding the key but now its nothing. Don’t consider it a ā€œhassleā€ as I don’t use the key for much else.

while I have seen this scare tactic on news feeds I amnot sure that most thieves are that prepared...

I don't think its a real problem no matter how you slice it.

Spend $50 on a locking gas cap to stop someone from stealing $50 worth of gas.

Not worth it when there is a 1 in 1000 chance of this happening.

This is why I put one on, almost three years ago, when I bought the truck. Gas theft was never a concern.

I put one on last March, about a year later no issues. Don’t mind unlocking it.

What brand do you have?
The cap I have doesn’t take both hands to use it.

Cost of a Mopar locking gas cap for me: $11.00
Peace of mind: Worth it!

More worried about someone who doesn't have something as nice as this and put something down the filler than have a hole drilled in the bottom of the tank to drain it.

It likely holds more value for people who park outside often and/or live or work in high crime areas.
I garage park at night and have secured, gated covered parking at work....not really for me.

No lock provides theft prevention...Just deterrence. They are meant to keep honest people honest.
