2024 JTR factory gas cap is non locking style. I purchased a locking gas cap through Extreme Terrain. It failed after 3 tanks of gas, giving me a “check gas cap” message on the instrument cluster. After 2 days of starting/stopping, resetting the cap, the message remained. Put the factory cap back on, message disappeared. As I was beyond Extreme Terrain’s 30 days return policy, I had to eat the $55 cost. Went to O’Reilly’s, paid $75 for the same exact cap, but it came with a 6 month warranty. It failed after 5 days. The o rings on these replacement caps are softer than factory. If you stayed with me this long, thank you. Has anyone had any luck replacing their cap? I am open to trying the cap that keys to the fob, if it will actually seal.

I have had the cap that keys to the factory key. Put it on in late '21, still working just fine.

Did you look at the Mopar one?

So far, on 4 of our Jeeps we always bought cheap $11 Amazon locking gas caps. We did run into the "check gas cap" warning, but all we did was unscrew it, then screwed it back on with at least 3 clicks, locked it, then cleared the code - it never came back. Some times buying cheap is worth it.

My 2023 Gladiator is a diesel, but I also have the Mopar locking fuel cap. It works great.

Yeah same. I used the Mopar one on my 2020 Wrangler for close to 5 years and also put a Mopar one on my 2024 Gladiator and never had any issues with either.

I’ve had locking gas caps in the past….. Meh….I hated them!!

If they want my $20-$60 worth of gas (pending how full the tank is) 😆, they can have it. I’d rather they suck it out the fill…..then drill a hole in my gas tank.

I think most of us are more worried about vandalism (contaminating the fuel tank) than we are with theft.

Exactly…… it’s a cruel world - of course, its not full proof, but makes it more challenging and time consuming for thugs to do something like that

Another one from mopar... No issues with it in 4 years.. Plus its keyed to your vehicle key so there's a bonus
