I am wanting to add power side steps but everyone I look at only has pictures of the steps open. I want to see what they look like closed. Anyone have a set installed that they really like and willing to share some pictures?

I think the RSE are the only way to go. I have the original version, but they had since gone through gen 3 I believe. The new gen has a longer lasting articulation system, extends the rear part of the step, and better follows the body line.

Don’t underestimate the advantage of their wiring system either. Being independent of the truck is a big plu, in my opinion. The OEM Wiring is very complicated. Tapping in to it is a nighmare. Search my post history, I originally went with the budget brand. RSE is the way to go

Here’s my AMP Research XL power steps I like them because of the wide step and I don’t do any off- roading so I am not worried about protection I am just worried about function

PS. They were easy to install and to wire in. the only thing I didn’t like about the Rockslide engineering steps was it looks like they work off of a magnet stuck inside the door jam but if you’re going to off-road the the AMP Research XL power steps are not for that but from what I have read the Rockslide Engineering steps are so you will have to decide what your plans are both sets of steps look fantastic installed

Here is a pic of the RSE steps with Armor. You can tell it has additional armor because you can see the silver color rivets to attach it. In this pic, you can also see the rectangular shape of the step that extracts in this pic (click it). The armor gives you another 1/4" of plating, so, the steps normally contract past the armor. With the armor, I have hit lots of rocks and boulders, they do not dent at all, only scratch, and the touch up paint from RSE covers the scratches nicely. I have the Gen 2 version. This is a great solution, and if I could do it over again, I would make the same decision. If you are going to go offroad with hard trails, I believe the armor is mandatory to avoid denting the steps.

PS. the only downside I can see is weight. With armor the whole setup is kinda heavy, but, bulletproof. The platform you get is really nice. You can use the step to get on the RSE platform and scoot up and down the cab.

I see yours don’t have the extra armor. I installed mine this week, so haven’t rock tested them yet. If I’m careful choosing lines, do you think the armor can be avoided? If so, I’d prefer to avoid more weight.

They are fantastic though. Kids and wife can get in it, and it looks better than it did with rubi rails. I hope it blocks some of the door handle slop. If it doesn’t, I don’t care much. Jeeps are happiest dirty.

I have been very fortunate with only a few bumps and bruises along the way but nothing serious. unless you are really really rock crawling I don’t see need. The set up without seems to be very tough.

Another vote for RSE. Had to take my 87 year old mom to the doctors office. It wasn’t quick but I was able to get her in and out of the Jeep which would have not have happened without them. Plus they do a great job of protecting the sides from door dings when I am crawling the mall.

Nice Truck, nice pics. Off-topic, sorry... -- How do you like those Cooper SST Pros in the Rocks ? what PSI do you run. The Goodyear Kevlar MTRs have held up great. I like 12 psi in the rocks. So far, no sidewall damage, just some small chucking on the big lugs at the end. I rotate and balance them every 5K miles, so, they have been good for me - on road and off-road. After 20K miles, they are louder now, but, still ride great. The sidewall also seems softer now - after 20K miles and airing them down a lot for off-road.

Coopers are fantastic tires. Just point her in the right direction and these things grab well. I have 37x13.5x17. Was t sure about going 13.5” wide but wouldn't go any other way now.

While wheeling I generally run anywhere from 15-18 lbs. depends on how much climbing I am doing.

I’d be hard pressed to do any other tires at this point.
