Alright after some more digging and edification on my part. I think I've come up with a way to do this with two fuse taps. Here's a wiring diagram of how I think it should work.

Having two 15A fuses in series shouldn't effect the fuse capacity.
2023 JTR... so glad I found this! I'm using a wireless AirPlay dongle and it was super annoying when it didn't turn off. F11 to F53 worked like a charm. Thanks for this :)

2021 JTRD checking in! This mod worked for me too and it's so great not having my phone randomly connect back to the Jeep when I am walking around my house talking.

Thanks!

What are you guys using if you have 2 add-a-fuse taps next to each other? I have a fuse tap already on F52 because I have the Oracle headlights. Is there an extension I can put on the F52?

tackled this mod today to convert the console usb to switched with ignition on. Started on the wrong foot working with fuse 11 which is only relevant with newer models - apparently post 2020. Couldnt understand why the usb still appeared to be on after all connections were made. Referred back to this thread to get the correct fuse - 102 - for my 2020.
the linked wire taps include bullet connectors so was able to crimp one on the end of the 2nd wire tap to make the necessary connection.
i used fuse 53 for the switched power (Bluetooth speaker). others have usEd 96.

Ended up hacking together a solution. Credit to @ricky0018 for making me think about the fuse box!

Fuse F102 is the fuse for the center console USB ports. EDIT: Newer models may have USB on Fuse 11. Check your diagram to confirm. As we know, the fuse connects from a hot line to a fused line. Therefore, I needed to supply power to the fused line only when the ACC/IGN was on. To do this, I tested other fuses in the box for this property. Eventually I found fuse F96, "Power Mirror", was supplied power only when the truck was in the ACC/IGN condition. This looked like a good candidate to me as it's not a critical circuit that I use frequently.

I did this mod a few months ago.. So happy I did. Wirless AA is great for short in town trips but my dongle stayed on and kept trying to connect when parked at the house.

Two taps spliced, F11 to F52 (cigarette lighter) and boom. Easy peezy.

I made a buddy wire that I placed with the F96 fuse's "hot" side. I then routed that to one blade of the 15A USB fuse. The other blade I attached a wire that went to just the fused line side of the USB circuit. Pretty? No, not really. But it leaves all the lines protected. And now the USB circuit is powered from ACC source rather than always-on. I sealed up the blades of the 15A fuse and put it into an empty "spare" location to keep it all in place.

I will probably clean this up a bit with fuse taps (rather than my shove-the-wire-in method) now that I've proven the concept. What you see above works but if either of the fuses go, it's not the easiest to deal with them. With the fuse taps, I wouldn't need the "spare" location as the tap would hold that fuse. I could go straight from one location to the other.

Hopefully this helps out someone in the future.
I just did this mod after finding this thread. I don't have heated seats but the fuse for them is there and goes off with the vehicle so I used it as my power source through a tap adapter. I also cut a fuse in half and extracted one of the legs to solder a wire on to supply the usb fuse spot.

I made 2, one red and one blue, before realizing only 1 is needed.

The yellow wire is for my daytime running lights.

Just want to say thanks for this idea. I did it on my 2018 JLUR yesterday and now my phone isn't constantly connecting to the Jeep while it's on the other side of the wall at work and home. I went to fuse 52 / cigar lighter as my 53 was a blank cavity.

What fuses do you have in each tap? This pic is super helpful, I'm just missing that info.

In the top of the pic there is a 10amp in the top position only. The orientation of the taps is important because the lower position fuse is left empty so as not to back feed the system.

In the lower of the pic there is a 20 in the lower position and a 10 in the top.

The two 10 amp fuses are redundant, they are protecting the same circuit, but necessary to get power across the wire to the top fuse tap.
