I know it won't be a gladiator (will probably be a rental from Enterprise next door to the dealer according to the service manager).

I haven't had it off road.. Haven't been grinding gears.. No puddle of transmission fluid on the floor or anything like that. You just can't get it to engage to the gears all the way to the left of the shifter (it SHOULD be in 1st when you go to shift it, but it's actually in 3rd).

I do NOT want some rebuilt transmission after only 2 weeks.

I honestly want to puke.

I hear you, that's some tough stuff. Keep us posted so we can be on the lookout and know what failed.

I had the puddle of transmission fluid on a truck before. It is a sick feeling.

Most 'big' dealerships here in my state have 2-4 Gladiators... mostly Sport S. the few gladiators are optioned out of my price range honestly. I think I'm pulling the plug on this. If anyone wants a Rubicon 3 piece steel bumper with skid plate for $800 PM me. I ain't shipping it LOL
No bro. You're gonna make it.

Keep us posted on what happens both on how the deal takes care of you and the cause and solution to the problem. Hope everything works out for you.

I just went out to drive my Gladiator (458 miles in ~ 2 weeks and until 20 minutes ago, absolutely loved it). I could not get it to shift into reverse out of my garage. I ended up pushing it out of the garage, into the street (I wanted to see if I could drive it around the block and get through a few gears, hoping it would work itself out).. No dice. (When it looks like it should be in 1st gear, it's actually in 3rd..)... After about 1/4 mile, the engine started smoking.. I could smell transmission fluid.

It's parked on the street in front of the house, waiting for a tow.

458 miles. I want to puke.
I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow. Iā€™m at 2500 miles. Clutch makes noise whenever I shift, sounds like throw out bearing or something. Iā€™ve driven it since Wednesday cause we just sold our old car and dealer could not get me in sooner ... Iā€™m not amused.

I hauled a pop-up through the Rockies Labor Day weekend in stop and go traffic and also went off-roading. Those are two main reasons I ordered a Gladiator ... I expect it to handle those activities. Iā€™m not happy mine is already going to the dealer for service; will be curious to see what your and my issues are.

Nice one. You're a man after my own heart. I've got a black manual Rubi in JB status right now. What are those mud flaps you've got in the front and do you have a better picture of one side or the other that shows one? Also, where did you get them and how much?
@firemedic2714 i got them here....they donā€™t have anything for the rear yet....itā€™s the ā€œXL Frontā€ $79.00

Hey guys! Hope all is well, although my quick glance through recent posts show not everyone is having a fantastic time two footing it (i'd puke as well). "Jeff" sent me an e-mail yesterday letting me know that my cancelled order is scheduled to be built next week! Now if I could only convince my wife to sell her Grand, drive the A/T JTR everyday and have its twin in M/T..... Ahh it's nice to dream!

Dealer claimed they didnā€™t hear any unusual noises or feel unusual vibrations. Said it drove like every other manual Gladiator they have. They said what I might be hearing/feeling is the vacuum pump but that itā€™s fine.

Iā€™m not convinced, as it definitely drives different the last 200 miles than the first 2400 miles. Iā€™ll keep driving though and see if anything gets worse. I hope theyā€™re right.

And my loaner was a Renegade ... probably the last thing on the entire lot that I would have picked out.

Followup on my problem with my transmission.. Spoke to the head of the service dept. yesterday. He said it was a clutch problem and they don't know why it happened.. They are replacing the clutch and flywheel, but he does not think the transmission itself was damaged. Maybe it was simply a faulty part? I just asked him to fix it and fix it right. I'd sure as hell like to know why this thing flamed out after only 458 miles (and I know how to drive a stick.. I haven't been grinding gears for 2 weeks straight)

That's one of the better ideas ever conceived, how could she not like it?

I don't think you could drive it wrong and break it, unless you were doing something obnoxious like revving way up and dropping the clutch. Worst that could happen from average everyday bad driving is some smoked pads, and that doesn't sound like what they're saying if they're replacing the clutch and the flywheel.

Definitely a faulty part or improper installation. Once they get it apart they should be able to tell you what went kaput. We'll be interested to hear.

Glad you have a fix going though!
