I had no idea how badly I needed to check mine, until I saw this thread ;).

My '22 at approximately 37k miles. I didn't think it looked too bad. Probably 70%-80% of my miles are on highways/interstate for ~ 1 hour or more at a time. As with other things with these diesels, I would assume type of miles may play a part in how clogged it gets, but maybe not.

Thanks for sharing, everyone.

That doesn't look too bad at all. Are you using any fuel additive?

Yes, have been using Hot Shot's EDT since beginning, just recently (~3k miles) also introducing some Archoil 6500*. For injector cleaning I also use HS Diesel Xtreme every 6k, which was just about a month ago for the mileage I'm at.

* note: not doubling Archoil w/ EDT, but swapping back & forth as I use up the bottles.

Tips. You can remove the sensor without removing the IC pipe. To make it easier next time, remove a little material from the mouting base (highlighted yellow) so that it don't hit the IC pipe supporting bracket nut next time.

This is mine at 59,259 miles.

Before and after spraying with CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner. I just sprayed it and wiped it off. It didn't look bad at all.

For those who don't know where the map sensor is. Here's a couple of pictures. And how I did it.

1st is what you're looking at.
2nd picture. You need to remove the 2 10mm nuts with a deep well. And move the tube out of the way.
3rd picture I used a 4 finger grabber to remove the 2 bolts that hold the charge elbow into place. There is another bolt that needs removed not pictured. It doubles as a nut that holds down the engine cover.
4the picture is the charge elbow is moved out of the way. It's a pita to pop the elbow up because of the gray grommet. You have to force the elbow up. You can see the sensor better now.
5th picture. Push the red clip towards the driver's side. And push down inside of the red clip to to remove the harness. It takes a 40 torques bit for the bolt.
6th picture is the hole where the sensor sits.

This is the inside of the charge elbow. It's pretty clean.
