Hey everyone, I have a 22max tow. I am going to be buying some Rubicon take off suspension parts. What’s parts are an upgrade for the max tow and what part are the same or are not? From what I understand the max tow has stiffer stronger springs.

I’ll be picking up Rubicon FOX Shocks, Springs, Arms, Track Bar, Sway Bar.

I am thinking the shocks? Are the arms, track bar and sway bar different from what I have or an upgrade?

New to the jeep space so I appreciate any help!

The Rubicon doesn't have Fox shocks the Mojave does. The Rubicon has a front sway bar that can be disconnected is that what your are getting?

20-23 rubicons had fox shocks. Mojave has fox shocks but they are the reservoir ones.

I stand corrected. For a brief time I had a 2024 JT Rubicon and it had Red shocks like my wife's 2024 JL Rubicon.

I do not have an answer for you but I put max tow rear coils on my Rubicon because the Rubicon rear coils are too soft, even when unloaded. I'm really suprised no one else has complained about it on this forum. My bed is usually empty or nearly so and, even then, I felt like I was driving a very overloaded pickup the way it swayed on road imperfections and how the rear end dipped deeply on dips in the road. Shocks didn't help much (stock red, Fox, or Bilstein) but the max tow springs fixed it.

I just changed the shocks out to the newer Rubicon ones when I had my second shock called it quits earlier this year. I've heard the Max Tow springs are some of the better factory ones so I'd keep those.

There are different spring rates available within the rubicon package depending on the her other options it has. Mine are very stiff and it tows and hauls great. It rides level with up to 1500 lbs in the bed. I accidentally had almost 2k lbs of rock in the bed once and it was the only time I’ve seen it squat. Night and day better than my stock overland with tow pkg springs. It didn’t tow or haul or drive very well stock.

That is true. There are a 21 different rear springs listed for the '23 Gladiator. Left and right seem to usually be one part number away from each other so that means at least 20 different sets of springs plus any sets that use the same for left and right plus any that are more than one part number different. The Rubicon is bound to have a few of those sets. Unfortunately I found no data on the spring rates. I gambled and won on the max tow springs (part numbers ending in 178AA and 180AA) being better for me. It was only $100 and a small amount of my time to find out.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. My 21 Mojave had 4 different spring part #s. Newer ones have 2, same fronts and same rears. A 21 stripped Mojave has the same springs as a fully loaded one.

There's actually a fair bit of discussion on the overly soft Rubicon springs but they are a common and relatively inexpensive upgrade afterwhich the complaints stop. I've been very happy with the Clayton triple rate coils which are a better solution that fixed or dual rate springs.

I got my '22 JTRD with the fox shocks, never had the feeling of them being soft. Routinely put around 1500lbs in the bed like ^ said earlier. Now I have the Mopar 2" lift on, came with new springs and shocks, I had a choice between fox 2.0 and something else, think '22 was a transition year for shocks. The lift springs are progressive so they do feel a little squishy while unloaded, but get a buddy or two in the cab or some junk in the bed and it's smooth riding. The only other thing I did was switch up to the matching fox 2.0 steering damper, the factory bolt on the damper is a really tall shoulder bolt that doesn't fit the fox damper, I ran a step drill bit through the bracket hole just enough to scrape the over zealous coating off and threw a grade 8 bolt through with washers and a nylock. Had some warranty work done and the dealer put it back the same way so, I call that approved.

Oh, btw. I have the factory '22 Rubicon diesel parts, minus the front sway bar links if anyone is interested, they're were taken off at about 20k miles. Hit me up if you're interested, there just taking up room in my garage, also got a stock diesel exhaust pipe, it's the final segment with the extra 3rd or 4th muffler, still has all the hangers, didn't cut anything
