@Metalcloak any idea what an expected lifespan is between rebuilds?
There truly is no standard for that. A lot depends on usage, driving styles, terrain, etc, etc, etc.

However, good shocks should last for quite some time before a rebuild is required. The only regular maintenance requirement of a nitrogen reservoir shock is going to be checking the nitrogen level.

We do not yet have enough historical records from customers to get a read on what will be standard for the Blacks, but at the ridiculously low end, Fox says their shocks need nitrogen fill every three months. My Kings on my race Jeep (4500 class) needed to be topped off after every race weekend.

We expect much better results from the average customer with the Blacks. - Matson

Do us stock Mojave owners have a hope of you making a Black for stock height Mojaves?

@Metalcloak Ya'll probably already replied to someone else asking the same questions. I have 2 primary concerns. I have a Mojave and as such, I much prefer fast & loose surfaces, quick curves, and air time. Even in the case of having a bolt on Mojave option. Will this be valved aggressive enough for a more "baja" orientation of offroading? The naming scheme ya'll have gone with seems to imply its more for the slow stuff even with all the goodies. Also how many variants will there be for set lift heights? Will there be a 0-2" lift option for us who like to run low? Will it be revalvable for more custom tuning? or just rebuildable? I imagine not everyone will want to run MC springs with it? I'm on a Frankenstein 1in lift and I love how "sporty" it feels. Planted, low center of gravity, but still big tires that have more traction than i have power. Which is a great combo for ease and confidence getting her well into 80 mph over some rough stuff. I was set on on FOX 2.5 Elites, but they'll need a bit of bushing work to make fit in a Mojave. I'm not against it, but for a similiar price and direct bolt on. Ya'll almost have me hook line and sinker.

For stock height? Probably not soon. We have a lot of others to design before we get there, but we will definitely let the R&D team know of the interest.

Lots of questions, and maybe better for a phone call... but I will attempt to answer here...
  • They are PERFORAMCE long travel shock... emphasis on performance. Designed for fast or slow, crawling the rocks or playing in the desert.
  • The adjustability gives you a noticeable difference between 1 and 8 to tune the performance to your needs
  • We are not currently looking at a 0-2" lift height. But may in the future.
  • We have a proprietary Parabolic valving system that will have more options as more are developed. We will also have a standard shim stack system for those who want to custom tune their shocks with a tuning pro.
Let me know if I missed anything.

These might be a good option... I'm looking into doing a Frankenstein lift for my JTRD and I'm trying to stay as much Canadian/American made as possible. The more local, the better.

Bilsteins are cool, but I've heard some pretty bad reviews about them not handling up to the Canadian weather. Wonder how these would fare in our winters. This will be an overlanding build that can still handle some decent trails.

Sounds good. One more question though. Can ya'll sell a Mojave shock bushing kit? So we can convert other shocks or repair MC ones? rather than having to butcher a Falcon kit and a FOX kit.

We are happy to send a kit to any MC customers who have an issue... which we expect will be very rare... but at this time they won't be for sale by themselves as we are still ramping up production and need inventory to meet our own demands.

@Metalcloak How does your zinc plating hold up to the east coast? I'm in the planning phases of my suspension build and trying to decide on what vendor to use. I'm trying to stick with the same vendor for OCD sake haha. Trying to stick with Canadian/American made as much as possible.

AEV w. Bilsteins are a great option but I've heard nothing but bad things about Bilsteins just falling apart after 1-2 winters. Teraflex shocks are insanely good, but... not made in North America so would prefer not to support them. I've heard lots of good things about Metal Cloak, and I love that y'all sell pretty much everything I need. Just interested in seeing how that coating holds up long term.

I have thier rear sway bar reinforcment bracket. It catches a lot of rocks and plenty of PA and NJ salt all last winter. Still look new with no sign of corrosion.
