Success. FYI. The bolts need to be one inch longer than the ones that come with the brackets. I will probably paint them black. I couldn’t find black m6 3ā€ long.

How much light are you getting on the hood from these lights? Any pics with them on at night?

Bill, I just did this setup thanks for posting, however, I was able to use the factory bolts and it seems fine. I'm a noob so I was just wondering...Have a great day, Eric

Skimming through here, how much light is getting wasted and reflected back off the hood? I've got some serious floods above the windshield and I can't see anything as well as I can see my hood hinges. Too much near field light destroys any benefit of long reaching beams IMHO so a glaring hood seems like a hassle.

Hood profile is also different. . . . tried to install AVS 436148 Aeroskin II. . . . it does not match hood profile
Were you able to make the aeroskin work? I also have it and seems like it might be able to flex enough for installation.

None.. There are different beam choices. I chose the long throw beam and no problems at all.

Show me the pictures...

I have a mid term project to make some shields for my lamps, like a snow hood but upside down. 160° beams can be like that.

To quote the all knowing Truktor:

"I'm not sure if the Light Shield detail that I'm going to point out here pertains to your plans, but it is a good excuse to post 10 photos of Ivan Stewart's (Cal Wells' built ) PPI single seater Toyota, one of the more innovative and beautifully built race cars to this day.

As you can see, Ivan's Toyota had a wad of the Hella Rally 4000 HID's all over it. These were the top of the heap, as far as lighting goes, during that time period. They still hold up well. The pencil beams light up the far side canyon walls, on a wide canyon.

The detail to notice is the light shields mounted to the two lamps at the upper corners of the windshield opening. Painted black, they were hard mounted to the lamp via the lens screws, and they kept the glare out of Ivan's eyes. Note that the shields are deeper on the bottom, to keep the lights off of the hood, and then trimmed to a shorter profile along the vertical part of the circumference. These blocked out a space in Ivan's Field of View, so that dust and anything else was not lit up right in front of his face, as long as the rooftop bar was not on. With the roof lights on, basically everything was lit up. He ran these lights, mounted just this way for years.

The two center lamps on the rooftop light bar are Pencil beams, while everything else from the hood up is a Driving Pattern."

Just some thoughts to bear in mind when going nutso with lighting. At my most recent count the rig will now have 8 (EIGHT!) 9" LED lamps, 6 160* flood and 2 eurodriving/spot. Not pencils by any means but not the new dawn of my floods. Sadly the R4k HID is discontinued in all flavors from Hella in favor of the R4k LEDs. For better or worse they will be missed as nothing, not a damn thing ever, has the punch they provided.

This looks great. Ran into the same problem on my Mojave. Where did you find longer bolts?

Got my lights installed today. Rigid D-SS Pro. Picked up longer bolts (M6-10) from hardware store as bracket bolts were shorter than the OEM (OEM’s are the middle bolt below)
