Kickstand up or down? and why?

I just bought another bike, a little CRF230F. Never had a pickup before and never loaded a bike in a bed. I've had plenty of bikes and even a 4-rail motorcycle trailer and a few hitch carriers.

When I brought it home, I went kickstand up. Two straps at the front (from handlebars) and two straps at the back (hooked to swing arms).

I didn't want the weight on the kickstand at all, was my thought.

Any insight/thoughts are appreciated.
I would suggest avoiding handlebars, they can pivot. I use a loop strap to the upper triple clamp.

Hauled my Road King in my truck bed (not JT) with a front wheel chock, straps where the bars met the head tube. It wasn’t going anywhere.

KIck stand up, bike moves up and down on it's suspention in travel. With the stand down you are now hammering the stand with every suspention compression on every bump. It will break the stand at best, your frame at worst and chunk/dent up the bed.

That’s pretty much what my line of thinking entailed.
Thank you for confirming.

ZRX1200R in the bed, made a little frame out of 2x6 to hold the front wheel in the center, loading/unloading it was a little sketchy due to steep angle of ramp but went okay. Hauled it 160 miles home, JT handled great with the weight in the bed.

Congrats and welcome to the OA.

I'm in NY in the Hudson Valley.

There's a bunch of folks in the Northeast with ZRXs.

A gentle warning, joining the ZRZOA, makes keeping a stock ZRX VERY difficult.

Cheers!

Thought I would bump this thread and see if you guys have made any changes to your setups or modified your layout for more convenience. I normally run full size wheel chocks up front in previous trucks but due to space, may look into other options. I run an atv-width ramp currently so that part is easy but I dig that wrap around ramp for space saving and keeping cargo in. Just looking into different die down points, retractable straps, etc to make gear organization better. I see how yal load the bikes but any pictures with ramps/coolers/gear as well would be nice.

Also, nice Hyper 950! I have an 1100EvoSp that will never leave the garage ?

Has anyone found a rack or some stout added tiedown points that works well on our trucks and fits under a tonneau cover?

I don't need the chock features like this one, but would like to have the high center and high outboard tiedown points.
