FWIW, while mine was in the dealership for the broken serpentine belt last week, they did the Y86 recall that's not applicable to everyone. I have an early build (June 2019, I think) and have never had anything done to the PCM before.

And since I got back, I've gotten the best mileage I've ever seen out of my Glad. It's only been one tank, so we'll see if it holds up.

Sorry for the late data drop.

I somehow took a chunk out of the sidewall of one of my tires during a camping trip. The tires I have came from a bronco, and im not positive that the duelers id buy from the rack or elsewhere are exactly the same. So I was in a bit of a snafu. I ended up getting a set of Michelin defender ltx ms tires and running those for a couple weeks until I was able to get another set of bronco take off duelers.

I have since put them back on and continued to track data.

The Michelins went on my wife JLU.

Day 5
Trip 1
23.5mpg
-af 1 present
-af 2 didn’t occur
-af 3 present

trip 2
24mpg
-af 1 present
-af 2 didn’t occur
-af 3 present

Day 6
trip 1
23.7mpg
-af 1 present
-af 2 present
-af 3 present

Day 7
trip 1
23.9mpg
-af 1 present
-af 2 present
-af 3 present

I figure Ill keep tracking data for a bit just to see, but its coming out like an overall increase in MPG as far as im concerned.

I am really curious about those Bronco take off tires you were running. There is zero info on them. How did they ride? Harshness? noise?..... I hear the Michelin LTX MS are hands down the most comfortable tire available and I was going to get them (265/70/R18 32.5x10.8) but I keep seeing the bronco tires for cheap in my area. like$400 for 4.

I LOVE the bronco take off Dueler ATs . By and far the best tire ive owned.

Quiet, smooth, light, but strong enough to tow my TT for hours without issue. They handled great in the snow and rain. After having the defenders on for a bit, then going back to the duelers. I can really tell the difference. The defenders wete also smooth and quiet. But they were equal in that regard IMO. Not sure why but i get better mpg with the duelers, and i stay in 8th more often than i did with the defenders.

The bronco duelers ATs are the same as the oem dueler ats, just a bit bigger. So if you like the oem, youll like the bronco tires. The big difference being that the bronco take offs are 255/75 ( oem is 245/75) so they’re just a bit taller and wider. The bronco take offs have a weighr rating of 115, v/s the oem 112.

the only place i think the defenders would have an edge over the duelers,
Is that the defender had a much better tread ware rating.

$400-$500 for 4 tires is the going rate. And they’re worth it for that cost v/s the defenders at $200ish a piece.

I had the Michelin LTX MS 265/70-18's on my '13 Grand Cherokee TrailHawk. Great all season tire. Good tread wear too.

Mine had a flash before that Y86 thing came out, my VIN was in a list. I dropped mpg after that flash and it's never recovered.

funny enough mine too. I had the flash done in 2019, or early 20, and lost MPG from it. That was part of what set me on the long road to finding a tire and build combo that was built for my needs and wants...instead of just a big tired bro mobile.

Just got to remember we are driving a box with wheels. I got better mileage from my GMC AT4 6.2, but the gladiator is way more fun. I didn’t buy it for the mileage that’s for sure.

You are getting better mileage than me for sure. I might have to try a few things of yours thanks. The tires is a major factor on mine.

Done any tank refill manual calculations? If so, what is the data on that?

I have had 0 to almost +2 MPG spread on my tank refill manual calculations to make me not rely on any real time single trip accuracy of the trip and estimated MPG readings from the cluster.

That's because of the "environmental differences" each time you fill the tank. In my case, over a year's time, the cluster actually ends up being almost even with my phone app. It varies fill to fill because of the angle of the truck sitting on the pavement next to the pumps (they are never 100% level, always SOME tilt), or the temperature of the gas in the tank vs. the fuel in the ground, how sensitive the nozzle is when full - does it trip easily or is it more relaxed - do you tweak to get more in? I'd bet that even if someone tried hard to get the same amount in each time they'd be off by anywhere from .5 to 1 gallon. The rate of fill counts, too.
There's no way anyone can ever get the exact same fuel level every single time. You'd have to park your truck in the exact same spot to the inch at the same pump every time and fill at the same ambient air temperature........ and more.

Around here if you really try to till that tank and it's 30 degrees out and then it hits 90 and your vehicle is in the sun, you'll find half a quart of gas on the ground. (on those cars and trucks with vented caps from decades ago). So I stopped trying to top off my cars.

Thanks, I already understood the why it happens.

Yeah, you do, you are logical and understand reason,
but it seems people are always bashing that cluster number saying it can't be right. It is over time, and if all things are equal otherwise, it's damned close.
But people keep filling at different pumps on different days and then claiming the cluster is wrong.

I see in this case, using the cluster for one test at a time could be problematic because of the reasons I gave, but his cluster should show a trend, even if one tank, one test, is actually incorrect.

I don’t compare the cluster v/s the math every time. But when i do it’s almost always close or dead on. Enough so that ive stopped worrying about the manual calc and just trust the cluster.
