I have a 2022 Mojave with a Manual Transmission that I custom ordered and bought brand new in 2022. Ever since 6,000 miles, my parking brake has not held the Jeep on any sort of incline. I've had the dealership adjust the brake 7 times already; I've had 3 cases open with Jeep Wave. The first case they replaced the parking brake cable for free, but that didn't fix the issue. I have moved several times (FL to SC to VA), and when I called in @JeepCares for the second time to tell them that their "repair" failed within a year, they essentially closed the case without even speaking to me. Then I called again a 3rd time, BEFORE going to the local dealership, and they refused to do anything until I paid the $229 diagnostic fee at the dealer, and told me I'd have to go back to the dealer in SC for them to warranty the work they did. What was the point of going to the Jeep dealer if no other Jeep dealer will warranty that work? I don't need a diagnosis; I need the parking brake adjusted at the drums (rear wheels). Jeep cares told me they couldn't do anything to help; that they no longer help with any sort of repairs or costs, including the diagnostic fee, and I got the same response after escalating to a supervisor.

I went to an independent shop on Friday, paid $195 for labor, for them to clean/lube/adjust the brakes at the rear wheels. He inspected the shoes and they are in great shape (probably because my brake has never worked), only for the brake to fail again today. I JUST WANT TO PARK MY TRUCK IN A PARKING LOT; let alone out on the trails. What gives??? Anyone else having CONSTANT issues with NOT BEING ABLE TO PARK YOUR TRUCK?! I cannot understand for the life of me how this isn't a critical safety issue, or something that @JeepCares could NOT CARE LESS ABOUT. It is a MANUAL TRANSMISSION and I cannot park it safely. @Jeep Cares Not - 7 times at the dealer, 3 Jeep Customer Care Cases, and now an independent shop, and no one can get my truck to park on even a 2 degree incline. This is absolutely ridiculous; don't even get me started on the constant headaches with the clutch recall software, oh yeah and the recall for the recall.

Any other MT owners experiencing this?! And no, I don't drive with the brake engaged...

22 mojave MT as well. my parking brake was coming loose quite often back within the first year of ownership. (you need a 10mm deep socket and a 12 inch extension to reach it to tighten it up without taking the whole center console out). After tightening it 4-5 times it finally just stayed put and haven't had to tighten it again in the past 2 years.

Are you feeling zero resistance when you pull the handle at all? When you move the handle up and down, does it sound like something is jingling?

The handle pulls all the way to the top, like as far up as it will go, and does feel like there is some tension, but then the Jeep just starts rolling away. I do hear a jingling sound when pulling the handle up and down. I can't even park on a 2 degree slope in the parking lot. I know the manual says to engage 1st or Reverse when parked, but then when you press the clutch to start the Jeep, it rolls because the brakes have no power until the Jeep is started. I've been in some pretty dangerous situations where the Jeep has almost rolled away on me.

They've replaced the cable already, and the shop owner on Friday got the drums adjusted so they were tight. But again, it does not hold. The new cable hasn't been tightened as much; I had the last one "adjusted" by the dealer 6 times before they replaced it.

Really getting frustrated here and with no support from Jeep.

Yeah thanks but I've been through 3 cases, 3 case managers, and a supervisor, and you all tell me the same thing. No one cares.

Your Jeep's brakes do still work with the engine not running. Now you may have an additional problem where the stored vacuum in the brake booster is bleeding off while the vehicle is parked, thus resulting in a stiff pedal which requires more effort to apply the brakes, but the brakes will still work when you push on the pedal.

Have YOU adjusted the cable under the center console as @Rahkmalla suggested? Or are you just relying on the assumption that that was properly done during all these dealer visits?

The one (and only) time I had a looseness issue with mine I pulled the rear of the center console, adjusted it, and put two nuts back on the threaded rod to lock into place. Too maybe 15 minutes. Haven't had an issue since.

Wow…You have drums??

I’m not familiar with these Gladdy’s…but sounds similar to the YJ’s we’d worked on back years ago. The cable needed adjustment constantly. As @Thunderspud mentioned…. Adding additional nuts to lock down the adjustment. However, I do remember having to replace some inner parts of the drums because the cable would get hung up and the parts weren’t moving as they should. That was an old rusty YJ…… It became ‘dangerous’ while offroading. We eventually got rid of the drums and did a disc brake conversion.

Watch some Youtube videos about parking brakes/drum brake troubleshooting. You might be able to find the problem yourself and fix it yourself OR tell the dealership exactly what the problem is and have them fix it.
Sometimes…..you gotta give the dealership A CLUE or a nudge in the right direction, or else they’ll tear everything apart, charge you a fortune, and never get it fixed.

Mine worked until I left it set and drove though a water hole in 4lo, now I need new shoes, but plus one on just lifting the center counsel and tightening it up. Or just leave it in gear when parked, good practice anyway.

JT's are disc rear, the parking brake is a mini drum setup inside the disc.

2021 MT Mojave here! Mine consistently needs adjusting. The other problem that I have is that it gets stuck on occasion and the only way I can get it to release, is to beat that ever loving crap out of it.

Yea, it sounds like your handle is only connected to 1 of the 2 cables. I've had that before. Get underneath and tighten that shit up yourself is your best bet. You can actually see the part that needs to be adjusted from the top down without having to pull or loosen anything. If i get a chance and can remember after work I'll try to take some photos for you.

JT's are disc rear, the parking brake is a mini drum setup inside the disc.
Thanks! Ahhhh….drum-in-hat…… Just watched couple videos…..
It’s probably identical parking brake setup as the actual drum brakes were, just within the rotor. The parking brakes on drums were always a pain in the ass to get setup perfectlY (at the drum itself).
