Need ideas on phone mount solutions

If you remove the temperature control plate and radio/navigation plate you can neatly route the cable for the Bulletpoint mount. I tuck the cable end into a slot on the bulletpoint plate when not using it. Can add pictures later if desired

Do this and then put the bulletpoint on the passenger facing you , neat and out of the field of vision

I use the Bullet Point mounts (three of them) across the top of the dash and all cords going up there are held using some creativity with zip ties so that they follow the panels and stay close to the dash. I made little tails that stick under the various panels and hold the cords in place.

I use the Vector Offroad Dash Bar with RAM Mounts and a magnetic base:

But to your concern about the cables my driver and passenger phones each have a cable that is plugged into the armrest USB plugs (if your vehicle has those) and pulled through the center console, then up and out through the dash:

The largest iPhone will fit nicely in the little slot between the cupholders, cords can be stored in the console. large cups and such will fit in both cupholders with this arrangement.

I've also found that you can sit a phone between the parking brake handle and the console (on that little pad under the parking brake handle) and ride just fine.

You can also store it in the upper console lid with a cord run to the lower console.

All of these work well, unless you need to see your phone for some reason while driving, which a lot of folks on here seem to need to do.

This is more of a curiosity thing now as there are many many post ……Like several and I’m not old, but I don’t understand the infatuation with the phone kind of in your face. Do most people not have carplay or the android thing? I understand your gopro and I personally use a RAM mount with X-grip on my Harley for GPS, but if you have carplay/android auto, why not place phone someplace else? Your radio screen will do everything else. I know most of the wireless adapters halfway work. At 6”4” I need as much clear space as possible in the jeep, I don’t want my radio screen covered up or blocked or my vents covered. Don’t get me wrong for some strange reason I like the anvil dash bar and may test mock something up with PVC pipe or conduit I have laying around, I will paint black for a test, but I am a bit lost.....

Again, just really more curious, because many have spend several hundred dollars on dash systems. Trust me I have spend way more on….. as my wife calls it… dumb crap for fishing or the Harley…. But…...

In many states, like Nevada, it is illegal for the driver to have the phone in their hands unless pulled over and parked. They can touch the screen with their finger, but no holding the phone. Mounting the phone in front of you provides easier access, for those that need it.

I use Android Auto for phone and map access while driving. The phone just sits in the passenger seat. I can use voice control to answer a text message, if necessary. I don't keep music on my phone, SiriusXM gives me plenty of variety. I do have the SiriusXM app on my phone and tablet, if I feel the need outside the truck.

It's ok to use it, touch it, watch it, read it, but just not while holding it. Yeah. Smart.

I use mine, and even my son used it when he borrowed my truck, to hold the phone while using Google maps to get to his appointments. A whole lot better than looking clear over to the right and down at a radio positioned for back seat drivers.
My phone mount puts it to the immediate right of the steering wheel, level with the top of the dash. Extremely easy to catch the directions and not take my eyes off the road. The position of the radio stinks compared to a lot of other vehicles.

I find that using Android Auto on the 8.4 radio is easier to see than trying to use the smaller screen on the phone. It is also mounted high on the dash so you are not having to look down while driving.

I think that law was created so Uber, Lift etc. workers can still do their jobs without getting a fine. In Cali, it used to be no operating a phone at all while driving.

Reasons for cellphone mount on dashboard;
For navigation is main reason for phone mounted on dash, other reason is so I can change "channels" of podcasts, music on Amazon music, Pandora, ect. I've got base sound system in mine. The second phone mount allows me to record audio and video or photos with my cellphone while driving. The phone stays charged and securely retained in place.
For calling it's connected with the "radio" so no need to hold phone.
