Mishimoto has a aluminum radiator and a upgraded trans cooler. Pricy, yeah, but their quality is second to none and these are bolt in applications

Thank you for attempting to figure out the new vs old grill debate! On my Mojave, I have a bull bar and my winch on my front bumper - which both are blocking some of the airflow to my radiator, so now I'm THINKING since the new grill is smaller in height (the airflow area to radiator is higher than my grill) it could add more cooling to my particular setup because less airflow is being blocked.

Not sure if this matters and I don't think anyone has brought this up yet, but the new grill has angled edges to (possibly) direct airflow to the radiator where the 2023 and earlier grills are completely flat. The article the OP posted I believe talks about directing air to radiator " The Jeep from the factory lacks any kind of ducting or panels between the grill and front of the radiator. These gaps allow air to go around the radiator instead of thru it significantly reducing differential pressure across the radiator and significantly reducing cooling"

Maybe the new grill is built in mind to direct more air to radiator?
I have a pretty similar setup to you, I installed the 24 grill yesterday. I did notice i was back under and around 190 driving around town. Not any official testing by any means, but the last time i checked with the old grill, it was 200-202

again, i was not expecting a huge change and this isnt why i 'upgraded' to the 24 front

Matt will do fine with this test and will give honest results while attempting to be accurate, I know when he works on his Jeep it requires bandages, blood and beer, but he will do good if he survives!
This thread had me watching my coolant gauge coming home ,up route 1 from Dewey Beach to Wilmington Delaware on my way home with stock tires and 4.10 geared Mojave with 100 pounds of ARB cooler and stuff in fridge and about 300 pounds of chop saws and tools with a RSI cap, plus towing my unloaded 5500 GVWR landscape trailer behind it. Was amazing how quick temps go up when climbing the Delaware bridges, or with speed. In two hours of driving I was not in 8th gear at all rarely in 7th. Coolant temp ranged from 195 to 225, the biggest factor being speed, while on cruise just bumping the plus button to increase speed without touching gas pedal, temps when up in direct relation to speed my highest temp was at 75, lowest at below 65. I agree Matt is the best for this as he also can do a Max Tow pulling his pretty heavy camper even if not back and forth to work perhaps a couple trips with the camper would be neat to see also!….Jack

PS, Minty has me thinking if I want to do something about cooling perhaps some aftermarket radiators or coolers would give better results, then a grill change, Matt can do that test also I hope!

The problem with anecdotal things like this is that - this is 100% normal and temps above 190 are actually GOOD, not bad. Plus - it may be due to battery SoC, engine torque output, and a whole list of other things. Was it running the fan at all? Possibly not - as a fuel saving measure or a HP conserving measure.
The range is 190-220 as a normal thing on many engines - it doesn't mean lack of cooling, it indicates the PCM is controlling and balancing things for mpg, power, battery charging and electric system load and more.
I'd bet it doesn't even run the fan at 200 degrees, depending on road speed. That's another variable - road speed and torque output measured, transmission temperature (if hot it will likely kick on the fan and boost engine cooling to cool the transmission)

Extremely questionable to even think a grill with such tiny changes is making a difference between 190 and 200 - 190 is minimum, 200 is normal.

People really need to ignore any such numbers - meaningless unless they have a scanner going looking at the whole picture. I'd be concerned if mine never got over 190.

Nice thing about the grill - pops off and back on in a minute. Heck, he can carry the grill with him (assuming his payload permits) and swap them out at the other end away from home.

Man, don't spend that money based on that post. He was DRIVING AROUND TOWN and his other temps were normal, the later temps - cold. It wasn't the grill, you can bet on that.
Looks, yes, i like the looks of the new grill and that would be my reason - knowing it won't help my JT do any better because cooling is already perfectly fine, never too hot.
it's a nice appearance piece, IMO.

I appreciate your input, but I LIKE the look of the new grill better.

Wow, I just noticed Shrimphappens post, $750+ is rediculous....I'll wait for a trade opportunity for sure

I appreciate your input, but I LIKE the look of the new grill better. I'm a little confused on the pricing for the new grill, somebody posted a link to all the parts and it was like $300, but I think I read somewhere people are spending $700? If thats the case, I will probably avoid buying one, but happy to trade.
Yeah, in that thread (I believe it's in the "Show & Tell" forum) someone has what AllMoparParts says the parts list is, and it's $300-ish, but then it's another estimated $300-ish to have it painted.

ok, got it. I wonder what the unpainted color is? Matte / shiny black could look ok.

Yeah, brand new they are unpainted. so you have to consider that.

Matt thanks for your efforts. I applode your methodology and hopefully can add some more data -ppints to an issue that should not be an issue, frankly.

A couple of points I’ve often wondered about after reading about this problem….
1. Why is the radiator not as wide as it could be? If you look at the grill you’ll see that on either end it is actually blocked off and there is room behind it to be made wider.
2. The 392 in the Wrangler has to make more heat and given that it’s also larger there seems to be less room for air to circulate.
3. Why can’t the fake Rubicon hood grills be made functional and be of benefit. My Porsche has a grated opening behind the radiators to allow hot air to escape…

Spot on. I do not expect the grill to make much, if any difference in cooling at all. I bought this grill for looks and additional space for the winch wiring.

As mentioned, the numbers i saw were driving around town, no load and well within normal temps
