Cooper was bought by Goodyear and their quality went way down. I had some from before and after they buyout and the difference was noticable.
I wonder if that's why STT Maxxes went crazy on the pricing. I love that tire, but they used to be similar in price to a KO2 if not a touch cheaper, now they're crazy more expensive. I've ran 4 sets, but no more.

This guy does some excellent tire reviews with nitty gritty details into tire designs, more importantly highlighting how those details affect your intended use:
BFG KO2, Falken Wildpeak, Yokohama Geolander Differences
Goodyear, Mickey Thompson Baja Boss, Toyo, General Grabber
Falken WildPeak AT3W VS AT4W
BF Goodrich KO2 VS NEW BFG KO3

Personally, I couldn't be more pleased with the Wildpeak AT3W, I've had them in jagged rocks (shale), snow, lots and lots of dirt roads, etc. Only light mud though, they did fine, but haven't really pushed them in that element, just some long stretches of 1-2" wet clay but on flat ground. I got some Grabber ATx for winter (studded), also a tire I've been happy with, but have only moderately thrashed them on the rocks in the past so can't speak to how tough they are. They wore fine for me on a past truck, great 4-season tire in the Rockies. Probably the best winter AT though, even without studding them.

if you ruin a rear tire, move a front to the rear and the spare falken to the front.
It doesn't make a difference, unless you have free spooling hubs you will still have a difference in the diff between the two sides of the axle.

I have been running Nitto Ridge Grapplers for the last 11k miles. They balance well on my Method wheels. They perform great on and
Looks really good. I thought about the bronze but decided on the double black.

i'm having a brain fart so please offer further clarification. if you are referring to the front axle with mismatched tires and the jeep is in 2wd, is there a risk for differential damage? both available front axles, dana 35 and dana 44? are you calling the old style "lockout hubs" free spooling? i do not wish to offer the OP incorrect info for his JT. thanks

Unless you have the hubs with knobs that select "free/unlock" or "lock" you are still spinning the front axle and driveline, the only thing disconnected in 2wd is at the transfer case. The back wheels push the front, which rolls and turns all that running gear. This means it makes no difference if you put the mismatched wheel on the front or the back - one of the diffs is going to be making up for the difference in wheel size, causing wear, and heating up.

Selectable hubs (freespooling hubs) disconnect the hub assembly from the axle shaft when set to "free" or "unlock" - now the front end is not spinning and the wheels turn freely without transferring that rotation to the axle shafts, diff, and front driveshaft.

This is why it's important to have a matched-size spare for mot 4WD vehicles. You never want an off-size tire connected to a tiff. Selectable hubs disconnect the wheel from the diff, but that's not how the Gladiator is built.

I have the same size tire and wheel just a different brand.

If you visit Tirerack.com, in specs, they list tire weights, tread widths and overall diameters, if that might help you decide.

I went from the stock falken wild peaks to Patagonias (which I hated and ended up selling) to Toyo AT2’s to Cooper STT’s (which I just had put on this week). So far love the looks of the STT’s and I was honestly surprised how smooth and quite they are off the bat, I guess time will tell as they wear but for right now I’m very happy with them!

Mt’s or XT’s? Curious about what you hated if they were the XT’s. I’m 10k in and have zero complaints. Quiet and perform really well 37/12.5’s

I had the Patagonia MT’s (315/70/17). They didn’t balance well and had a constant vibration, they were noisy, and the tread wore horribly fast. Was not a fan…
