Just got a p733 code when the check engine light came on. Says incorrect 3rd gear ratio. Whatever that means. The only thing different lately was a loud clunk when shifting into reverse, but only after sitting overnight. Dealer says fluid is completely burnt. Waiting on authorization for the replace.
What just happened???

Did you ever remove the transmission heat exchanger for the flushing method you were interested about?

If so I'd start looking with that method as a root cause. If not, then that's just some really bad luck considering your questions in regards to the transmission and removing/bypassing the heat exchanger.

At least the dealer sounds up to the task, thats always a relief.

No. Was waiting for my 60,000 mile powertrain warranty to run out. I imagine the new tranny will only be covered to the 60,000 mile mark. Ie around 15,000 miles. I hope the new tranny is the current model without the thermostat. We will see.

One local guy also had trans issue at 30k miles. Good thing no hassle with warranty claims.

I had the same exact symptoms and try to deal with it for a little bit by manually shifting, but it inevitably would go into limp mode. I would have to pull over and use my Tazer to clear the CEL.

83K and not under warranty.

Fortunately, I got a take off from a Hemi swap donor for $1500. And paid too much for labor.

Had many conversations with folks and found out that ZF fans recommend a logical fluid replacement scheme vs “lifetime”.

The transmission in my 2020 failed at 53K miles. Actually, I caught it just before it failed, but it would often not shift from 3rd to 4th gear and would only go into reverse sometimes, and with a loud "thunk." It was replaced free of charge, but the dealer had it for 35 days and would not arrange a loaner for me. It was a huge hassle. The good news is the new one works perfectly.

Warranty booklet has language that exchange parts have the same warranty as new parts. MOPAR new parts warranty when installed by a authorized service center carry a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.

In theory, you should have coverage of any warranty repair that is the better of either the remaining terms of the vehicle warranty or the MOPAR parts 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.

The warranty clock starts running at the original purchase and does not re-set when a part is replaced under warranty. Below is the language from the Parts & Accessories warranty, but the same applies to the vehicle warranty:

Pretty sure that is the warranty of the first replacement warranty part.
