I personally like to SEE the engine, the works of the thing. Even without the cover you can't see squat on these things. Ugh, what good is it if I can't tell it's an engine and can't see stuff moving and working. It might as well be electric.
How do I know there's even anything in there working or doing anything?
Very boring, I want to see push rods pushing, flywheels spinning, valves valving........lifters lifting.

Do you miss the big ass air cleaner housings on 440, 4 bbl Chryslers? Those suckers cover the whole top of the motor. Valve cover to valve cover.

Spark plugs plugging, Camshaft shafting, and Piston pissing?

Err, on second thought, this went in a weird direction.

I take it that you are into tail pipe sex. You're going off in that direction.

Who needs a darned valve cover? Oil change? Heck no, just keep oil where you can see it. No battery needed.

Or for newer, getting to watch the linkage on dual-quads move..........
there's nothing to see on these things and they put covers on them to make them pretty?

I've got an aesthetic cover lying around. I'll even throw in the bracket for free.

Does my engine have the brackets to install the cover?
Anyone want to sell their OEM cover?

Why cover it? The engine looks great and makes it easier to access? At least it does not look like the Bronco and Bronco Sport engine which looks like a spaghetti festival without their aesthetic cover. In fact the Bronco Sport used to have one and they stopped putting them on the beginning of 2021 due to not being able to get the materials and boy are they whining and crying about it. BS and Bronco Owners have stated clips come off in their engine because they are cheap and some wires get hot.

Be glad for how jeep has laid out everything to where a cover is really just show!

RTFLMAO! Look at their mess!!

The 22’s are coming with out engine covers.
My '22 Willys came with a cover, its the diesel, but it had a cover. I say had because I took it off the second day I had it to help with hot air movement from the turbo and such

Do the Willys edition Gladiators come with the engine cover? My Willys Gladiator did not have a cover on the engine. It was not there when it was offloaded from the truck, nore was it inside the vehicle. The dealership stated that some models did not come with one. Is there anyone else here, whose JT did not come with the engine cover?
When you configure a 2022 Gladiator on the Jeep website the engine depicted does not have a cover.

Have your two cents. There have been many cases where years after production of a certain engine, the manufacturer learned that one cylinder was running hot. Or one coil pack we failing. Or one port an exhaust manifold was cracking. Or an intake was cracking. It happens. You don’t have to be an asshole.

So in otherwords, no evidence of this for the 3.6.

I'm wondering how asking for a source is being an asshole? You were simply asked to provide a source. Why? Because if there is evidence of this we'd appreciate you sharing and would all be running out to the garage to pull those covers off and chuck them.

Having worked directly on engines for decades, including heating issues, one cylinder over-heating isn't going to be the result of a cover that is more over the center of an engine than anything or anyplace else. The engine proper is way under all of the other "stuff". A single cylinder getting hot is almost always from a short list of things. (coolant circulation issues, running lean, and so on)

Coil packs fail from heat in most cases (in the past, anyway) - have not seen any issues with a 3.6 and coil packs failing on a very specific cylinder.

I've followed issues with the 3.6 for quite a while and have seen no pattern of failures that can be attributed to heat.

You are likely correct. I was in a hurry and my wife called to tell me to meet her for lunch and get a package to her she needed - miles away. My bad, I rushed. (don't keep the wife waiting!)
How was lunch?
