I agree that the system is fine the way it is, but I absolutely replaced both at 50k when the main started to fail. There are lots of cases where the marginal remaining battery kills the new one. I’d rather not risk losing my expensive new main to save the $150 on the aux. I call that proactive maintenance. But I wouldn’t feel the same at 20k miles. But 50k of abuse with lots of heavy amp draw accessories? I’m good with swapping them both.
I'm not saying everyone's aux doesn't go bad but I also know people that have over 100,000 on theirs. Those aux batteries are made to go a while but I don't blame you for replacing it either.

@1 Mojave with no issues and 27K, but I have a battery tender full time under the hood and is always plugged in when not being driven. I only drive it on the weekends, unless a truck thing is being done.
I am doing the same with the battery tender. The jeep is a secondary vehicle

People Work?
Built in September 2021 and first sold in October 2021.
I bought it in February 2022.
Zero issues.

First thing I did was learn how to disconnect the AUX battery and jump start the vehicle with a portable booster, in case I fell victim to the infamous stranded failure.

Last year I went ahead and did the AUX battery bypass.
Everything's been fine, and the OEM main battery is showing no signs of weakness or failure.
The truck sits sometimes for as much as a week with no activity, but it is garaged.

2020 JTR, bought in Nov 2020. 42K miles and I am still on the original batteries, I have added Aux switches (VOSwitch), 6 lights, winch, onboard air, replaced the 7 inch with an insane audio JL4001, I am parked in the driveway and she sits for days sometimes without being driven. My auto start/stop had quit working about a year ago, but it started working again last weekend during a 4 day overlanding trip. I am planning to change the batteries out before my Moab trip this summer.

I have 2 - 2020 Jeeps. One caused me a lot of grief because of battery issues (primarily because the techs at the dealership do not understand the system). The other has been trouble free.

The Jeep system works great as long as the batteries are good. It's only when age and/or usage patterns take effect that the system shows it's flaws. The saving grace of the system is that it starts sending messages when trouble is near. The messages are varied. I don't know why. Things like "Stop/Start not working - Battery charging" are common. Another one is "Aux switches not working." The Jeep dash voltmeter will tell you if your charging system is working (14+v when running - some exceptions). It's difficult to use the voltmeter to determine which battery is bad. You can see voltage under load for both batteries if you put your ignition in "Run" with the engine off. You can see the loaded voltage of the aux battery on the dash voltmeter during a Stop/Start event. You could even disconnect the aux battery negative and see voltage under load of the main battery. Making decisions on when to replace the batteries is awkward because Jeep's parameters for the system cause generation of trouble clues at battery voltages that would normally be considered good (~12.4v).

On my Jeep that had battery trouble, it took 4 visits to the dealer and an phone call with the dealership General manager to get 2 new batteries (warranty work). I'm driving it now with the 2 new Mopar batteries

On my Jeep that has been trouble free, I started getting the low battery clues after my warranty ran out. I could have nursed it along for several more months. Instead, I removed the aux battery, pulled fuse F42, and installed a single high quality group 94 battery. The new battery has virtually the same power as the combined 2 original Mopar batteries. The new battery also came with a 4 Year warranty (vs. 3 for Mopar). My jeep works exactly like it did when it had 2 batteries.

I laughed when I saw this thread and initial content of it. It reminds me of the stories we hear from in today's political news. To support my statement, I submitt that Jeep Forums are the only forums where I see sections dedicated to battery problems. I point out that many manfacturers utilize a stop/start system with just one battery. I offer my own personal experience to valadiate the "hard to diaganose" complaint regarding the battery system. Your opinion may vary. :)

I heard FCA is looking for engineers. If deleting the battery is such a perfect solution then I'd expect there to be one battery from the time I purchased mine. Batteries vary in life expectancy. So one person's experience can't be compared to another's. It's just how it is but I can promise you deleting the battery isn't the solution but if you're good with it then I'm good with it but not on my Jeep.

Yawn. Didn't you hear? All the Jeep battery engineers got fired. They are calling me everyday. :)

I have a 2021 JTM with 21K miles. Everyone has been reading post about how bad the main and aux batteries are and scaring the heck out of many on these forums.
I have not had any issues with my batteries. I would like to know if any of you have NOT had any issues and what are we doing different than others.
I do not have any additional electronics except my GMRS radio and soon a winch. I am in the habit of turning off the auto stop / start when ever I am in the jeep. There are many times that my jeep does not get driven for 7-10 days and it starts up with no issue.

Just wondering!!
'21 Mojave with almost 60k on it and I have had zero battery issues and I have a Warn Zeon10 and auxiliary lights which I run a lot and an ARB Zero fridge which is on all the time. I also have a Tazer Mini and the auto stop/start is disabled.

Mine lasted 27 months and 36,000 miles. I deleted my auxiliary battery as well as disabled auto start stop.

Going on 45K miles on my 2020 main battery no issues so far but I have been thinking of changing it out. My smaller battery died after about 1 1/2 years. Dang thing just went. Let me stranded (LOL). Am thinking about changing that one out as well when I change out the main battery

Sure is nice to have a battery thread where most comments are positive. I have a low miles '21 I bought used in June '23. Daily driver, stock except a device to allow full time ESS disable. Looking to get a few more years out of original batteries.
