I actually had a service writer ask me if I had the first 4xE gladiator. I blew his mind when I told him not only was it NOT electric, but in fact it’s not even gas… it’s diesel. ?

It’s got the color way to make you think it’s trying to be better for the environment, instead it is just cool. ?

The fender held up really well despite the awful noise it made when it hit the rocks. The lights still work, lost a few clips from the fender liner but otherwise no significant damage. There’s a pile of random parts laying around on this obstacle for a reason.

I was thinking about putting the badge of honor right next to the damage to be honest. I really don’t want aftermarket fenders, I optioned the jeep with colored fenders and LED lights. It would make no sense to replace all that.

I actually opted for black fenders to save some money up front and down the line when I do something similar, the unpainted fenders are somewhat cheap.

Biggest reason nothing is on here, or most other forums these days, is that social media, aka fantasy island, has taken over that kind of stuff.

Facebook groups, instagram, YouTube, etc is where all of them go to monetize their activity. Since I consider social media the devil, you won’t see me there. And most people are perfectly fine with these companies monetizing them and their information, or willfully blind to it, so they will stay on whatever platform du jour is the hot new thing.

I also have a bunch of cautionary tales about potential liabilities for the ‘organizer’ of such events when things go sideways and something bad happens.

I have seen a couple of recent articles referring to "the tiktok generation"
The same people that spread all sorts of bad information, lies, conspiracy stories, and make money in the process also explain that banging on doors in the middle of the night can be fun!
Social mediocre, instacrap, fakebook, etc.

Check the staging area section on the forums, we still do it. I spend more time on the Wrangler forums because they’re more active as far as trips go.

I was trying to find which Wrangler forum you were referencing in the Pinyon thread you started and wound up on a different one. I followed your link and registered on that forum and have been reading the Pinyon thread there. I wasn't ready to be Squeezed on that trip but I have been studying and going to get my head focused on crawling for when I go back there.

I agree with you. Back when I joined Jeepsunlimited.com in 1997, we had numerous meet/greets and trail rides. Us east coast guys had a yearly Tellico run called the Right Coast Run and had T-shirts made and everything. It was nice to meet like minded Jeepers from other parts of the country.

Kevin reading your post, dang we've definitely crossed paths a long time ago. Hearing about the Right coast runs n Tellico. ? I was active with some of them 99-02 when I wasn't doing traveling for other things with Army. If you remember a ragged white XJ that was probably me.

On the Jeep Clubs, I seen a few that went to s### with certain people joining up, then bunch of extra drama and what not. I was one of the early members of "The Low Country Mud Rats" Jeep club.
That other thing of primary vehicle and cost of repairs is a big deal for it too. Heck back then I just bought a another XJ or two for parts. But a part that is missed to is the "go super-sized and tow rig w trailers" off-roading that was kicked off tires jumping from 33s-35s average then big was 44s. Then with 44s becoming small tires, running many out of budget or wanting to spend on rest of life things. A part that changed it was some of the changes are / were do to political things. I know I was on a different time and budget available not to mention the closing / changes of many riding areas. I "downsized" to trail riding 4wheeler and trailering it.
The "Overlanding bloggers / U-tubers" thing is also a whole different kettle of fish. And a change of demographics to Jeep owners too. Many of us were vehicle based camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, ect ect. This is a new "Glamping" name is for vehicle based camping with hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of "needed" stuff.

If you haven't already got a JLxE charger port panel on the cowl that would be icing on it.

Could also just be that the gladiator is a lot of owners' main mode of transportation, whereas older TJ/CJs are side vehicles for fun and recreation... not nearly as fun when your primary vehicle gets major trail damage and is out of commission. Some (including myself) also just won't push it nearly as far as it's probably capable of, simple fire trails are good enough for me and don't require a group outing.

Also, cost of professional repairs has gone up, especially in the last couple years with parts and labor.

Agree with you. Frankly, the Gladiator is not the rock crawler that the JL or JK are. Could have something to do with it. I bought mine for over landing long distances where crawling over stuff isnt preferred. I for one got tired of fixing the JK/LS3 I had. Just too expensive.

We are in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Pierre Part, LA and then over to Florida for my nephew's wedding at Clear Water Beach (we'll stay in Sarasota)
But it won't be for trails. ........... still wouldn't mind meeting other Gladiator folks.

If the infamous @ShadowsPapa is coming to Florida I will be the first to say a meet up is in order. Not asking you to plan anything but if you are traveling I75 I could suggest stopping someplace off the interstate for a short break. Russell Stover has a warehouse/store 5 miles off the I75/Turnpike junction in Wildwood, my stomping grounds.
