Nope on that. The fuel economy, especially when you consider your fueling up electrons also :) , is not that great.

Prius did that better :CWL:
If you take it for what it gives you, tons of instant power and a fun silent ride in small instances and a step towards a huge powerbank (think no need for dual battery, solar hookup etc) your driving around, it is awesome and a cool way to go and think for the future.... if you think economy and green, nope... not this vehicle

meh, dont know that Id want a V8 JT. After how they did the JT dirty with the piss poor cargo and tow ratings with the diesel engine...my guess is if they stuck a v8 in the Jt it may as well just be a one seater.

40 mpg? It's more like 20 mpg, combined, from all reports I've seen. Most here can milk that out of their Pentastar or diesel JT. It's electric apologists saying things like this that get people too excited about something that they shouldn't be getting excited about in the first place.

Regarding the OP....it's been obvious for months that there will be no 8 cylinder JT, at least from Jeep. Time to move on from that hope.
Got it. I'll tell the 2 guys that I wheel with a lot that they are apparently wrong. :CWL:

Come on, a LOT of the figuring of mileage with the hybird crap is over stated... a lot of liberties are taken to make a sales brochure (and report to the politburo) look better than it really is as the published numbers are in ideal conditions...

None of us doubt what our Diesels get, and the torque is great too

"hey bob, you know how when we went out to the trails the other day, and we calculated 36.5mpg on your 4Xe? well, you were hallucinating... The JT forum guy said there's now way you can get that...!"

I mean, it wouldn't be the first time people like Bob have exaggerated things to get attention or downplay criticisms...

Not that it's happening here, but it happens A LOT with the 4xe crowd.

I have a close friend who owns one. Far above 20mpg. Unless people are doing all highway commutes, you'd be hard pressed to prove "most" milk that out of the pentastar. While reliable, its an engine that needs no reminder that it was introduced in 2012. I dont' want a 4xE because of how complex they are, and I'm waiting for full electric. But let's get our facts right on the differences between the powertrains. The pentastar is adequate at best in 2022, and was great in 2012 due in part to the engine it replaced, and the technology available at the time. Now, it has aged painfully.

The pro EV seem to be talking in bone stock conditions, I know on out JLURD we got 29mpg out of the box, down to about 20mpg with 37's... so, I have to wonder an 4xe with a 20 mile range on battery will be worth much if it drops a 3rd of that range on tires....

Whats left when the charge runs out? We can both gas up and keep going, but what oower is actually left in the 4xe with no charge?
Seems like a great mall crawler

Only issue one of our members has, is the computer does not like a regear when 37's are installed.

I admit my experience with 4XE is limited as the 2 people that I know that owned them both did FCA buybacks

Calculating the 4xe's gas mileage is always tough because how do you count the electron miles? My wife drives 20 miles to and from work all electric every day on 37's with a 2 inch lift. For us it costs about a dollar to top up the battery, so does that mean we get about 70 miles per gallon because a gallon of gas is like 3.40 and we get 20 for a buck? On the highway for longer road trips (120+ miles) we average 18mpg at 70, if I drive 100 miles at 70mpg, and 100 miles at 18mpg, would that then mean I got 44 mpg this week? What if I dont drive it all week, and then take a long road trip?

Thats really the issue of this whole dick waving contest when it comes to MPG's. Diesel versus gas is easy since they both burn gallons of liquid. On the PHEV i burn gallons, and I use electrons, if we just go by the energy content you can kind of apples to apples it, but for real world if I go by what i'm spending, my total fuel bill is about 1/3 of what my JT would be driving the same.

At the end of the day, we didnt get the 4xe to be green or save the planet, and if it burned rotting whale carcass mixed with kitten tears we'd still buy it. The selling point for us is the performance, and with the tax credit the value. We wanted a fully loaded wrangler, and the 4xe with tax credit is the cheapest way to get in one and has the most power and is the most fun to drive besides a 392.
